First again - turning into a grunt :(

31pts at wollongong yesterday (5 over hcap - 5 3putts) wonder where i went wrong. The course was in crap condition, no water what so ever. Apparently they just up'd the memb fees by $200 a yr and they are loosing heaps of members.

You've got to save that sort of stuff for the McLeod Cup. Although I saw a tentative date of Easter Saturday for it, which would rule me out.

Well done though. What sort of impact on the handicap?

Nice shooting Rich but how can you have 27 putts and call it average :smt017

I didn't think it appropriate to start this thread with somebody else's score, so I waited to see who else read yesterday's results in the paper. But nobody else has mentioned it, so most may not know.

Our friend Trung, who rarely posts at all nowadays (and would never post his good rounds in this thread anyway) had a big 45 points of his (former) 8 handicap for a win in the Tuesday comp at Carnarvon. I would assume this equates to one under off the stick.

Pretty good shootin'.

I'm pretty sure I won't be playing this weekend at all. Too effing hot.

$50 for Runner up? nice. Most comps here in Sydney now don't offer that for a win!
What was entry?

I hope that while you were there, you followed OZgolf protocol and viewed the three OZgolf names on the honour board.

After lugging my fat arse around there in the heat for 3 hours I couldn't face the walk up the stairs. That's a slow round. I hope you weren't spending too long lining up putts.

When we got off the 9th we headed for the 10th tee but mistakingly hit off on the 13th by mistake, We did the 13, 11, 12, 10 loop and overtook them before the 14th tee..worked out beautifully.

I don't want to be too much of a narc but that doesn't sound like a stipulated round to me.

We hit off at 11:45 and the group in front of us was miles away, and playing in a 5ball by the way.

Putting let me down, which was a shame because the greens were fabulous. I need to work out a bit of the rust in my game at the moment ... not playing much lately really buggers up the short game.

Social round today at Indooroopilly. (Gold and Blue 9s)

Brain fade on the first two holes; an OOB quad, followed by a shanktastic triple. Ended up with a 48 for the fron 9 after all of that, even after finding the water on the 9th.

The back 9 was a completely different game. 3 over the card for the 9 for a 39 off the stick and an 87 total. Upon looking back, I conceded 7 shots on the first two holes and only 8 shots on the remaining 16 holes. :s

Boy I wish I could have those first two again, but otherwise a great day for me. Personal bests for 18 holes on the riverside course, as well as my 39 for the back 9 is my best 9 hole score at any course.

Now time for some celebratory beers.

Although don't expect any praise from Jack..... it wasn't in a comp.

And does the celebratory beers include some cleavage ogling?

It's not like an 87 is about to set the world on fire. So the 39 back nine is merely a personal achievement and nothing more.

It would be un-Australian of me to not ogle!

Breaking 40 as a mid handicapper is a great feeling, and I remember the first few times I did it was after a shocking front 9. It is great knowing that doing it back to back is now possible and scores in the 70's are attainable. Still haven't got there myself, but the day will come. Well done again Henno, you have got to hate the crappy starts to a round (I am also a master at this).

I can just see you know, slipping into the black suit and white(?) tie, grabbing a Corona, getting the Mrs floral dress out from the wardrobe...... living the dream.

25/01/2008, Beerwah GC, Stableford & OZgolf Matchplay

9/14 effective tee-shots.
10/18 effective approaches.
2/8 up and down successes.
36 putts.
-----------------
1 birdie.
9 pars.
5 bogeys.
3 others.

Score 42-41-83 stab 17-19-36 (Par 36-36-72 CCR 71?)

Three and a half weeks off and yet I come back with a good round again, just like at the Glades after a break. Not quite as good this time, but that's because there were a few shocker shots chucked in. Especially early on when I was tight under matchplay pressure. Once again the most pleasing thing is the amount of greens I hit. Playing off the white tees certainly helped, but it nice to see the irons going straight at the moment instead of right. Driving was good, but the short game didn't come to the party.

Next round: Next Sunday's Wynnum Cup. It should be a fun one.

Congrats!!! Rain here but got 12 or 13 social holes in Sat arve and hit 38 myself, which is i think my best on the front 9 at the course. 3 boges to start, bird, lipped out 4 foot bird putt, just missed a 12 foot bird, three putts from just off the green on 8 including a lipout and par on the last for 3 over. Shot 79 socially last week, my best 18 ever here and the mid cap looks like it might be about to come down hopefully. Been working a bit on excess movement and got new shafts (perfectly suited) in the irons.

8 over for the last 16 is awesome mate!

It was one of those strange rounds with Haysey, Cookie & another mate today. I felt as though I hit the ball just as bad as Saturday (24pts), but somehow I scrambled enough to get some points out of most holes.

Case in point, the 7th hole:
1. Pulled the drive left and hit a pine tree dead centre, ricocheted right and finished only 20m from the tee.
2. Flubbed rescue from a horrible downhill lie with the ball also above my feet.
3. Cold topped rescue behind some trees.
4. Punched out next to other guys drives.
5. Stiffed 9 iron to 18 inches.
6. 1 putt for a point.

It's encouraging that I can hit the ball like absolute garbage and still eke out a score.

83 gross
33 stableford pts

4 fairways
4 greens
30 putts

9 pars
7 bogies
2 doubles

First game in almost a month and it showed. Short game was gone. Game was really rusty but also the stifling heat had something to do with it. Some good shots were played but a fair few very average one were played also. I had not played at Moore Park for almost 20 years and it had changed heaps, lots of re-routing to holes. Condition of course was immaculate for what is a very busy public access course. Would love to play there again but due to it very restrictive competition access it will not be very soon.

Stats
91 Gross
-3 Par score
5/12 Fairways
4 GIR
37 putts (2x 3 putts) I could not get close to the hole with my first putt.
0/6 Up & Downs
0/2 Sand Saves

Next game: Friday with Syd Hacker @ Fox Hills, (I might sneak a quick round in at Bexley on Wednesday morning)
