I am the stig - I even have the T-Shirt to prove it.

And he won't be the stig much longer !!

Which episode is your favourite??

I really love the one that they compete with the German. (Double stacker car race, Off road race, Mini cooper race and the Stig beats the German (after he locked the wheels in the final lap) at the end in the track race)

Hammond back after his accident... best by far.
The first American Trip.
Botswana
24hr Silverstone race
The Vietnam trip - (last episode of the 12 season)

If anyone wants a torrent link for the newer season 12 - drop me a line.

Top Gear will also return to more "Car Testing" fun next year as opposed to trips away to bring the budget down. Which I must admit - I would prefer.

The trips are good . . . but not every week.

Can't go past Vietnam, and the trip to the US where they piss off the rednecks with their slogans on the cars.

1000 pound 'sports' car is a classic episode.

Converting the Robin Reliant into a space shuttle was good, my favourite though is the second challenge converting the cars into boats to cross the English Channel. Nothing beats the faces of the French as the Toyota drives up the beach...they must have thought its the second wave of the Normandy invasion.

The Race against the train to Monaco was pretty good too. I got both of the DVD packs for my birthday and have just finished watching the 6 DVD's. It was all good.

Ben Collins has been highly rumoured to be The Stig for quite a while, but the fact is there is more than one Stig. If you look at episodes like the UK v Germany at the Nurburgring, The Stig's height varies. And several major manufacturers won't allow anyone other than their test drivers to race their cars at high speed, so in those cases, their driver is 'The Stig'.

The original Black Stig was Perry McCarthy, when he revealed his identity in an interview they had a stunt where he raced an army jet on an aircraft carrier, couldn't stop in time and flew off into the ocean, never to be seen again.

The current Stig's contract stipulates that if either he or Clarkson, May or Hammond name him, he's sacked.

Not sure if it has aired at home yet, but there's an ep where May and Hammond take a plane and race from Italy to London against Clarkson in a Bugatti Veyron. Awesome stuff.

Getting Lorry Licences
Nurburgring vs German car show
10K pound Alfa show cars
and when they tried to destroy a HiLux.
are some other goodies IMO, as well as those named above. Let's face it, they're all good!

was thinking the same about the Stig because there's an episode where the Stig races a Toyota (?) Formula 1 around the track and it doesn't seem like the sort of thing a driver specialising in another form of racing could do?

It was Renault.

Then you've had The Stig racing trucks and motorhomes and jumping a snowmobile off a ski jump. The variables are enormous and it just could not be the one guy.

I have always assumed the "modern stig" was more than one guy. It's actually a clever way to create a popular character, without the constraints of having to cast and contract one particular expert.

The flexibility must be a producers' dream!

I liked the original (thousand pound?) Porsche challenge.

The blonde German chick at Nurburging. First when Clarkson took a diesel Jag and later with Ford Transit van.

Bugatti Veyron challenge was great, but I preferred the Merc. SL vs. train and boat challenge to Norway, for variety.

I'm with you Dotty. The original Porsche challenge and the girl at the Nürburgring were standouts for me.

The Bugatti Beyron challenge, although an amazing car without equal, was a little boring after a the "Oooh-Aahh" factor of the car itself wore off.

I just loved Slow and Hamster bickering at the airport and on the plane, the Slow falling asleep at the restaurant.

Call me a skeptic, but I thought both of those scenes were staged, or at least grossly exaggerated. :smt102 Worth a few cheap yucks, but not entirely a classic.

The episode where both Hamster and May are pulled over by the cops at the same time... one in a boat and the other in a sports car from Monaco.

Lovely

The episode where the Stig has to race a kit car to a race track while the boys build it in the garage is pretty cool too...Stiggy never gets there as the cops get him.

That was a classic episode. It was so sad to see Hammond devastated by the lack of "romance" and"charm" in the riviera town once he finally got there, especially after he "fell in love" with the Daytona.

The driving across the south of the US was also classic.
Recent Vietnam special was pretty decent.
As mentioned also, the Bugati vs. the plane was great.

The Polar Special was awesome.

Especially Jeremy to Slow: "You do realise, if we are successful, you will be the first man who has been to the North Pole who didn't want to be there!"

How harsh was that episode !!

When they tell Hamster that they are already at the pole... I teared up a bit.
