Guys

Checked out a few hours of golf up the Sunny Coast
thismorning.Pulled the pin after lunch time to beat the traffic
and rain.

Did a bit of bag peekin'.........some shafts I dunno the names of
so please help out if ya can.

Greg Norman - Mac VIP blades.Very 'ol skool, very sweet.Cally Steelhead 3wood/goldish graphite shaft(anyone know what?).

Pampling - R7 driver(one of only a couple I saw)Harmon shaft.

Simon Nash - Sonartec 3w,500series TM driver with Aldila NV,Raven carry bag.Noticed a guy wearing Raven hat and shirt following Simon too.Maybe he's got Raven irons?I couldn't really see, although I thought they were blades.

Parry - As most would know he's got the new Cally irons,Aldila NV shaft in a Cally GBB2(looked like the 415)thought he'd have a Fusion.

Spence - Mizuno blades,TM RM with the old TT green shaft that was huge on Tour a few years back(forget the model).Saw him use the RM to whack one into the drink on 10.

Euan Walters - Srixon driver/Prolaunch shaft.Ping Eye2 wedges.....and wait for it....TA 845 Oversize irons  looked like a new set too.

Adam Crawford - Precept TP irons(the old model),2ball putter,500 series TM driver with old skool Prolite shaft.

Chopra - Ping blades/Rifle shafts.

N Green - VSteel 3w,OdesseyAnser style putter,TM irons(the 300 series blade-ish model)

Perske - 2ball,Titleist bag,Ping h/covers,Titleist blades,unsure of driver but the shaft was a Prolaunch.

Chalmers - Ignite driver.

Richard Lee - Call Steelhead 3w.

Leaney - mixed Titleist set of irons(blades/cavities),Vsteel 3w(Titleist h/cover  )shaft was darkish blue down from the grip and then black - what's that??

Keegan - this guy I'm sure was using an older Titleist driver...maybe a 975J with an old Prolite shaft.

Didn't bother following the leaders due to the crowds.Hope some of this is of interest.

Nice work Deano.

Nashy has Cleveland blades.Driver is a R510TP with NV 75X and the 3 wood has a G/D ys9 or 9.1 in it.

Terry.

would that be the TT EI70 shaft in Spence's driver???

Very old school....in the mold of Love3...

Deano

"TT EI70 shaft in Spence's driver???"

Bingo :!: That's the one I was thinkin' of.

Norman and Love were big fans of that shaft.

Spence had one I'm pretty sure in his TM Rescue Mid
though not driver.

Deano, did you get a close look at Normans driver :?: I've read it's supposed to be the new MacGregor NVG driver, but i was wondering what shaft he was using in it :?

.. suppose if you knew you would've posted about it

Sorry,can't help on that one.

Only saw 2 of GN's tee shots....the par3 3rd and
the par4 10th.Thought the Cally 3 wood was a suprise :o
I'd have thought Mac would've been able to tool up a
suitable 3w for the big man

My guess would be the GAT75, GN has used Graphite design for a few years...

Nice work Deano, but i'm afraid everyone wants to know what the winners use ;)

Got some pics of Lonard's bag at the NSW open - check out that thread, there are pics in there. He's very much on the TaylorMade bandwagon, and for good reason too!

Nathan Green, had TM CB's with RAC wedges, 580 driver maybe had YS6 in it.

Norman had the new MacGregor Driver, with the adjustable weights in it.

Gavin Coles - 580 also, with the AD Tour Chrome shaft I think.

Don't think Corey Pavin had a driver as he seemed to tee off with v-steel, some ugly little punch that went about 2m off the ground..... :?

Peter Senior had a fusion.

Peter Fowler had a Ping isi or whatever it is, not a G2? Also had the longest arms I've ever seen, and walks like a monkey.....

Only player with the G2 was O'hern.

Chopra had a Ping head cover, but I think he had a callaway? GGB2?

Few others but I can't remember who was what.....

No Fishy.

He used to, and still has them I think.

Pretty sure he is using a forged set of some sort.

Thought that's what i saw him using during the Sydney junket recently. Perhaps a travel kit? I guess only one person can answer for sure .. :?

I was at Coolum on Friday, Norman was using the new MacGregor NVG driver with some sort of GD shaft.

Lonard was using a R7 TP with a TM marked shaft, Rac blades, a Rac OS long iron (as a driving iron) and a callaway ball. (which i saw when his 320m drive on the 4th hole stopped 1 metre from me)

Scott and Leaney were using a new long/driving iron which has a undercut cavity but looks like a blade from above or from the side.

Kurt Barnes, Fusion driver with DG steel shaft, hogan blades.

Campbell, hogan cavites.

Parry was using the new x tour irons.

He has the new ones. I think they're 845 evo's. Don't look anything like the old 845's.

I used the 855s for a few years before going OS in 98. They were my first decent set of irons. 1/2 inch long with S300 shafts. Sweet! I lent them to a mate for about 4-5 years while I was away. I have them back again now, but macleod is borrowing them. Great sticks. I've been toying with going back to them, especially the long irons.

I'm using 845 evo irons now. They're still Tommy's, but are forged and have no offset. Again 1/2 inch long with S300 shafts. I prefer the look of the blades at address now, and find it hard to look at offset.

Oh, that driver Norman was using looked FUGLY and sounded "tinny" at impact. His MacGregor Tourney blades were sweet though.

How good does Pamps hit it????!!!! 8)

:? :? Not from the view I got standing near his bag.

They certainly looked closer to the ones in the ebay link
I posted than anything currently listed on the TA website.

Be good to know for sure(just might track a set down 8) )

Does the new evo look like the old evo model at all?

These certainly had a very dark grey paint cavity and
I distinctly remeber seeing "Oversize".

.. i followed him around RQ a few years ago at the PGA, he was smashing his driver further than anyone then, i'd love to see how far he hits 'em now.

The one thing about being there in the flesh is the sound an R7 makes when it's been smashed 280+ metres. =P~

Maybe he has a combo of the 2, I saw DG's in some of his irons at the PGA (they were stepped shafts and had the DG shaft label, I was only 2 metres away several times.) And i saw him with stepped shafts on TV today again.

Jarro
13th December 2004, 04:51 AM
i also saw him with the stepped shafts today.

can't imagine why he'd have a set with Project X shafts mixed with normal stepped shafts :?

goonie

When I said combo maybe he has DG's in his wedge's and rifles in his other irons or something like that. Because I saw the stepped shafts and DG labels and I thought i saw rifle labels as well.

They might have been Tour Concepts........They have a chrome version that is TOUR only........Very cool, and worth serious $$$ if you find some.......
