As per previous years threads, let the reminiscing begin:

How did you go?

Meh. I started the calendar year on 8.0 and look to be finishing on around 9.0 (2 rounds to go).

Edit: 2 scorching rounds in the final days of the year will see me drop around 2 shots to finish just below where I started.

Edit: Golflink has been updated... I finished the year on 7.3. I had 58 full rounds including the Champs, plus 3 or 4 corporate days, plus a bunch of 9 holers.

My handicap low was 7.3 (where I finished the year) and high was 9.1.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Can't find last years thread, but almost definitely not.

Did you reach your goals?

See above.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Although the numbers may say otherwise, it was pretty much stagnant (ie. crap).

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

As with the previous year, the most memorable golfing experience was attending the Champs. Daylight to 2nd.

Did you play some great courses?

The new courses I played were: Moonah Links Legends (very enjoyable), Moonah Links Open (pretty good), Southern GC (pretty good), Gailes (not bad), Palm Meadows (very enjoyable), Colonial (groundhog day), & Mossman (good fun).

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

The main aim is to get some consistency and stabilise the scoring.

The secondary goals are to win another A Grade Monthly Medal, and make the A Grafe Club Champs Matchplay (Top 16).

Got any golfing holidays planned?

Possibly another Melbourne trip and most likely another Champs trip. 8)

Have a particular course lined up to play?

I'll take whatever I can get.

How did you go?
Started the year on 12.3 finished on 11.5 only played 14 comp rounds for the year.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
No, fairly boring year golf wise.

Did you reach your goals?
I suck at setting goals :smt087

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Stayed about the same.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
For me it would be the Barny trip, that place is very special.

Did you play some great courses?
The only new courses I played this year were Barnbougle Dunes see above & Palm Meadows.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?
To play all year without any long breaks, to play to my potential.

Got any golfing holidays planned?
Not really but always open to ideas :)

Have a particular course lined up to play?
No but would love to get down to some top Vic courses soon.

How did you go?
Started the year on 20.9 finished on 18.6. Did go as low as 17.8. Have one more round on Wednesday to try and get it lower.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
Not in terms of handicap. I have been working hard on improving some aspects of my game and they are getting there.

Did you reach your goals?
No, wanted to get under 15.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Forwards a lot.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Champs were great. The two day comp at Middle Ridge was good as well, will be looking to head to both again.

Did you play some great courses?
Only new course was PM, which I enjoyed.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?
Keep improving, get fitter and lose more weight ;)

Got any golfing holidays planned?
Nothing set.

Have a particular course lined up to play?
Nope.

How did you go?

Started the year on 6.4 and will finish on 7.7

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Nope, my only goal was to play more and I failed dismally!

Did you reach your goals?

Nope. I only played to hcp or better 3 times in golf link rounds.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

I am hitting it better, but lack of play renders the short game a real lottery.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

I visited Barnbougle with 15 mates and had a great time.

Did you play some great courses?

Barnbougle and the new RQ layout were the only new additions and I enjoyed both.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

Play more golf (not likely with a new addition though!)

Got any golfing holidays planned?

I'll be doing a Mornington Peninsula and Gippsland trip at some stage, also hope to get up to Healesville

Have a particular course lined up to play?

I'd like to see Portsea one last time before it gets ruined, and haven't played National Moonah yet.

How did you go?

Started the year on 0.8, finished on 0.6. High of 1.8, low of +0.5.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

No. Came 2nd at Albury for the 4th year running. Did not win a single open event.

Did you reach your goals?

No. Club champs was a major goal and faded badly in rounds 3 and 4.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

I'd say backwards. Only the fact that I am 7 under par in my last 3 rounds has masked a shitty year. A change of irons a few months back brought on rubbish golf (had no distance control from 7 iron down). Went back to my 695mb's and form returned immediately.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

OzGolf champs, although that had nothing to do with the golf. One of the best weekends ever.

Did you play some great courses?

Only 2 new courses. Coolangatta Tweed and Palm Meadows. Both nice enough, although if I had to play one or the other on a regular basis, CTH would be my choice.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

1. Win club champs.
2. Go undefeated in pennant.
3. Be on scratch or better for at least 10 months of the year.
4. Not complain about slow play at Yowani.
5. Win Albury.
6. Join a decent club in Qld.

Got any golfing holidays planned?

Champs 09. Possible Barny Dunes in May.

Have a particular course lined up to play?

No my only goal was to get to 15

Did you reach your goals?

As per above

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

My short game has improved and overall i believe i have improved a little

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

Ozgolf champs and our day trip to Moonah with Courty and watching 4 hungry blokes demolish triple Hungry jacks burgers @ 2000 after not eating all day.

Did you play some great courses?

Moonah Legends, Brookwater and my home course Sanctuary Lakes

---------------
And next year:

Get the handicap to 15.0
Get more OZgolfers to VIC Golf days.

How did you go?
96 games, and dropped from 12.6 to 12.4 (Highest 12.7 and lowest around 10.8)

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
No goal set, no goal met.

Did you reach your goals?
See above.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Same as always, two steps forward, followed by 20 tiny (0.1) backward steps.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Ozgolf NSW vs ACT Gauntlet.

Did you play some great courses?
Great courses are wasted on me. Federal looks promising. Always enjoy Port Macquarie and Mona Vale.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?
Minimise embarrassing shots. Find a driver (or a swing) that can get over 200m. Not make bogeys, where I don't get a shot.

Got any golfing holidays planned?
Nah, but will keep doing the weekends away.

Have a particular course lined up to play?
As always, Pennant Hills x100. Social club is going to the rebuilt Peat's Ridge course later in the year.

How did you go?
Not too bad. My best is turning out OK and my worst is becoming less disastrous.
Started at 21 and finished at 18. I started the year hoping to break 90 occasionally to feeling like I should be breaking 90 every time I tee it up.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
I seem to remember setting a goal in this thing last time to break 90 3 times in a row and I did that. I also wanted to make the cut at the Mid Amateur and did that.

Did you reach your goals?
Would have liked to drop a few more shots but I didn't get the comp rounds in to do it.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Definitely forwards. I started seeing Willow (http://www.willowgolf.com) in the second half of the year and I have never hit the ball better and even more importantly I have some techniques for my short game that will hold up and allow me to move my game forward even more.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Doing the double at Moonah with Courty and the rest of the Vic crew.
Bricks v Sticks
Ozgolf champs
Victorian Mid Amateur Champs

Did you play some great courses?
Played a few new ones - not sure any of them count as great. (I'm a Victorian - we are picky down here :))

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?
Break 90. Time to step up.

Got any golfing holidays planned?
Barny in March.
Ozgolf champs.
Probably a murray river trip at some point.

Have a particular course lined up to play?
Barnbougle Dunes.

How did you go?

I started the year on 11.7 and will more than likely finish on exactly the same handicap.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

No ... not by a long shot. I really wanted to dig deep and practice heaps and get down to 9 this year, but it just never eventuated.

I blame lack of enthusiasm.

Did you reach your goals?

See above.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

See above.

Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

The OzGolf Champs is always the highlight of my golfing calendar.

Did you play some great courses?

The only new course i played this year was Palm Meadows

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

Firstly, i'd really like to get motivated about golfing again .... at the moment, i just couldn't be bothered. Once that happens, i'll have a few lessons (not with Gary Edwin) and hopefully reach my goal of a single figure handicap.

Got any golfing holidays planned?

No

Have a particular course lined up to play?

Not really, although i would like to play Hope Island again sometime next year ... i really like that place :)

How did you go?

Started the year on 4.5, will finish on 5.5. High of 5.5, low of 4.4.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

In one sense yes, I won my Club Championship after almost 30 years of trying (5th time in the final) had my best mate on the bag so it was a very special occasion.

Did you reach your goals?

Apart from above not really, my game has gone backwards despite practice and lots of ho'ing.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

I'd say backwards.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

50th birthday trip to USA to play Pasatiempo, Poppy Hills, Pumpkin Ridge and the Bandon Dunes courses.

Did you play some great courses?

See above, I had played Pasa and Poppy before (used to live in San Francisco) but Pumpkin Ridge and Bandon Dunes were spectacular.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

Improve my game, especially iron play.

Got any golfing holidays planned?

Barnbougle Dunes in March.

Have a particular course lined up to play?

Magenta Shores next week.

As per previous years threads, Are you sure there was one?

-------------------

How did you go? Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve? Did you reach your goals?

As far as handicap goes, I started at 9.9 and will finish at 11.4 assuming that I play over my handicap on Wednesday finished at 10.6. 2022 comp rounds played with only onetwo under handicap. 6 other social rounds, and 6 nine holers.

It still sounds like a decent amount of golf, but there were a few two day events in there and it definitely dropped off as the year went on. I haven't had any goals for the last couple of years, but after reaching single figures for the first time last year, I felt I had nothing that I could realistically aim for after that. Add in that golf has had to share weekends with running, it hasn't had the same focus that it used to.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Definitely backwards. I can still play relatively solid, although my approaches have sucked all year (except a few rounds here and there). But with lack of play, my short game has abandoned me, so the scores aren't saved. I don't play to 11, so will have to continue with the 0.1s. Sometimes I can play to my handicap, when a few things come together, but it would be nice to see more than just glimpses.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

Champs weekend. I didn't have a golfing/footy road trip this year.

Did you play some great courses?

For the first time in several years, I didn't add a new top 100 course to my played list. I did play Brooky a couple of times, as well as Pelican.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

To make sure I keep playing, I think I need to aim to play the bigger events, so I have something to look forward to and maybe work up to. It will then lock that weekend out in the calendar too. Events like Wynnum Cup, OZgolf Champs, etc.

Got any golfing holidays planned? Have a particular course lined up to play?

Champs are always locked in for me, and will probably be the only exclusive golfing holiday.
I've got another trip to NT early in the year, so I'll squeeze in a few rounds there. I might be sent to Newcastle later in the year, so there's potential to play some good courses then.
A holiday to Cairns with the missus in March, where I'll get one round in. And I'm trying to plan a holiday to Vic, with some time in Tas, so if I can work it out right, I'll play Barny Dunes and somewhere good in Melbourne.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Yes I broke par.

Did you reach your goals?

Yes. see above

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

once again stagnant with my short game being woeful.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

The Masters trip was the undisputed highlight with the experiance of playing Pinehurst No2 and actually getting into Augusta National and seeing it,touching it being very near orgasmic. I shit you not!!!

Did you play some great courses?

Pinehurst Numbers 2,7 and 4 were the highlight of my year.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

Got any golfing holidays planned?

How did you go?

Not good. Started on 5.5 - finished on 6.5. Another year, and another shot gone.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Nope. Too little practice and a crap short game ensured the outcome.

Did you reach your goals?

See above.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Both -kinda. For most of the year it was backwards, but I feel I am making some progress at the moment, but the scores are not yet coming.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

Shooting +2 at Bright after hitting the opening tee shot OB in the tournament. Won the 18 hole event that day.

Did you play some great courses?

nope - a real disappointment

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

Too numerous to mention in detail Summary is: Handicap back down to 4 from a couple of years ago. Stick with new swing mechanics. Improve chipping & pitching dramatically. Lots of stat goals to help support the scoring objectives.

Got any golfing holidays planned?

Not yet. But I would like to play a few river courses that I haven't been to yet. Eg Tocumwal, Yarrawonga (haven't played in years), and Shepparton.

Have a particular course lined up to play?

not yet.

Started the year on 9.8 and will finish on 10.5

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Yes...
- I got to single figures for 2 weeks but couldn't stay there
- Short game improved significantly towards the end of the year
- Shot even par for the front 9 at home track (8 GIR's for 9 pars)

No...
- Didn't end the year on single digits
- Had too many sub 30 stab point round for my liking
- Performed dismally at the Club Champs

Did you reach your goals?

Nope, not ending the year on signle nor did I qualify for the Club Champs match play

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Hitting it the same as I started the year (which was good), also hitting good putts but not holing lots, short game has improved a lot where I'm now not trembling when faced with anything but a putt from within 60m

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

- Going on a run of eagle, eagle, birdie, par, eagle, birdie, par on the 15th at my home track
- Hitting 9 out of the first 10 greens in reg
- Final round of the year being a 40 pointer, great way to end
- The Convict Cup (part of the Happy Bandit Tour www.happybandits.com), despite the Southern Hemisphere losing
- Golfing while on holiday in South Africa and hitting my first drive to the front edge of the green on the 350m first hole :) (at altitude and down breeze)

Did you play some great courses?

New courses played this year included...

- The Vintage - thoroughly enjoyed
- Blackheath - great course in the Blue Mountains

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

- Play/swing/score more consistently
- Shoot more scores in the 70's
- Continue improving the short game

Got any golfing holidays planned?

- Definite trip away (destination unknown) for the 2009 Convict Cup
- Probable trip to Cairns (with diving) to check out our new investment property

Have a particular course lined up to play?

- Want to get to Brisbane to play Brookwater, Magenta Shores would be nice to play again and a Barnbougle trip would be nice

Forgot to add that I had 56 full rounds including the Champs, plus 3 or 4 corporate days, plus a bunch of 9 holers.

My handicap low was 7.7 and high was 9.1 before my 39pts on Friday morning just gone.

Are you sure there was one?

I just wanna get back down to 2 or something like that. I only played 20 something rounds of golf this year so it is going to be hard . . .

Looking forward to champs 09. Easily the highlight of my golfing year.

No club changes this year except for wedges.

How did you go?

Not that good, but gee I played plenty and had fun doing it. I made the Final of the NSW Matchplay.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Guess not keeping the handicap going forwards toward mid teens was not achieved but not that worried
Did you reach your goals?

Did not set any real goals with golf other than enjoy it, I think I achieved that.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Stagnant with handicap and scoring but game play actually got better. Pars and the like from very tough situations meant there was some hope I could be a better player.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

As always Champs

Did you play some great courses?

Not too many new courses but the road trip up to the champs was pretty good

And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

Same as last year no golf goals, would be nice to get to a handicap that I could hold or play too regularly even if it is higher.

Got any golfing holidays planned?

OzGolf Champs and hopefully get down to Melbourne for a hit down there with the Vic OzGolfers

Went well. Have improved on most parts of my game.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
Yes, finally joined a club.

Did you reach your goals?
Didn't set any.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
My Long game has improved, far more consistant off the tee & fairway.
But my short game has temporarily suffered, Practice Practice Practice will sort that out.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Finally learning how to play a decent wedge shot from within 100mt, then making it stop after one bounce. :D
Getting my hands on some decent clubs!

As per previous years threads, let the reminiscing begin:

How did you go?

Dropped .7, which is ok considering I only played 12 games so I didn't drop on my hc on every game. Yay me!! :)

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Didn't really have any plans with the golf this year. Hit some nice drives!

Did you reach your goals?

Nothing set.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Backwards, but I expected that. Including practice I only picked up my clubs on 12 occasions, can't go forwards on that.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

Nup.

Did you play some great courses?

Only played on 3 courses this year, and have played them all before.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

Several short course triathlons and my first Olympic distance triathlon. Maybe another half mara or two and several 10k events and the King of the Range. Oh, sorry, forgot which forum I'm on :) Nothing really.

Got any golfing holidays planned?

Golly gee I'd like to make it to the champs, but with my plans to do the Noosa tri which will most likely be the weekend before or on the champs weekend it's already seeming shakey.

How did you go?

After blowing out from 5.3 to 8.1 last year, I am still on 8.1 today. I drifted out to 8.8 briefly and got it back to 7.4 brifly, but have pretty much played to 8 all year.

Did you reach your goals?

My goal was to join a golf club and play in club champs this year. Did both those things.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

exactly the same.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

Taking the ozgolfers to Barnbougle was a highlight. Winning my first ozgolf major (Nudgee Plate) was pretty cool too.

Did you play some great courses?

Barnbougle Dunes, Hope Island, Palm Meadows, Pacific Harbour & Brookwater.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

Try to play most Saturdays at my home club, always a tough balancing act. I'd like to play all the big ozgolf days and get a few new guys out here for a hit. I'd also like to shoot a bit closer to handicap in the club champs this year.

Got any golfing holidays planned?

Yeppoon/Rockhampton road trip would be nice. No plans to go to Tasmania this year! I'm still yet to play any decent sandbelt courses, but that sort of trip would have to be part of a family holiday...

Have a particular course lined up to play?

Glades.

As far as handicap goes, I started at 9.9 and will finish at 11.4 assuming that I play over my handicap on Wednesday. 20 comp rounds played with only one under handicap. 6 other social rounds, and 6 nine holers. Nice assumption, dipshit.

The lesson learnt is to not post my year's review until the year is finished.

How did you go?

Good. My handicap this year has been WAGL not AGU, so we will see how Kennedy Bay treats me in 2009. Started the year on 18, down to a low of 14.0 as of last week.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Not totally. Was aiming for 12, but had a very slow start to the year. Only hit my straps in the last few months.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Forwards. Iron play improved in consistency. Short game and putting improved. About the same off the tee.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

Looking back on the year, I won the Summer Cup for my grade, the Club Champs for my grade and the Christmas Cup Stroke event, so pretty happy.

Did you play some great courses?

Not really any new greats. Happy to have Kennedy Bay open again. Played The Cut, Araluen and Joondalup for the first time. The Cut was a big let down. Araluen was nice, and Joondalup is starting to grow on me. Will be playing it a bit more in 09.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

Get the AGU handicap back up and running (as of tomorrow), to give me some solid goals. I am guessing I will be off 18 again, and will be aiming to get down to 13-14. Deja vu.

Got any golfing holidays planned?

Would love to make the Champs if another WA ozgolfer or 2 make the trip.

Have a particular course lined up to play?

Nope.

How did you go?

Only playing social club HCP of 25 with no stroke rounds, one or got a runners up in 3 out of 4 rounds in 4BBB or amby.
It all comes back slow though - so bits of the game come and go.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Ask me next year when I have real goals but I am enjoying practicing at the range for the first time.

Did you reach your goals?

Yeah I've stuck at it for 4 months.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Only one way for me after 15 years break...scores come down for a while.

Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

Returning to playing at Hope Island in June and realising how much I enjoyed the game. Then shooting an 87 at Glades 4 months after deciding to play again.

Did you play some great courses?

Hope Island, The Glades
---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

Practice once a week and play once a week.

Get a AGU Hcp and get to low teens by EOY

Meh. I started the calendar year on 8.0 and look to be finishing on around 9.0 (2 rounds to go).

My handicap low was 7.7 and high was 9.1 before my 39pts on Friday morning just gone.

It turns out that my 39 pts won the comp and dropped me to 8.3. My final round for the year will be tomorrow, so it most likely finish on 8.4.

Stared at 27 and finished at 26.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
I didn't improve much at all

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Slightly forward, but Greg at our pro shop, is now working on my swing, and is getting me to use my body and not just my arms and shoulders. (It is so hard)

I love going to all the opens around FNQ.

How did you go?

Started the year from memory on 11.8 and excited about the year ahead. Injury and ignoring specialists orders has me out to 14.6 and with no idea how to play golf.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

No

Did you reach your goals?

Initially thought my goal of playing to single figures if only for a week was reachable. Sadly did not get close.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Until the end of January it was moving forwards nicely. After that a constant slide backwards.

Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

One of my sons Nathan, got selected to play Junior Pennants this year and caddying for him was immensely enjoyable. His twin brother Jonathon started League Bowling this year and in his first season came first in pairs, third in handicap and most improved bowler.

I am a very proud Dad.

Did you play some great courses?

None of any great note.

---------------

And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

Stay injury free, enjoy my golf and listen to doctors. Hopefully see Nathan into single figures.

Got any golfing holidays planned?

Hope to plan one or two golfing weekends with a few of the boys (3oneday, rick3003 and kwantfm) if I can drag them away.

For all those searching for it, we didn't have a goals thread in 2008. I started the 2007 one, but I was so unmotivated at the start of the year that I decided not to set any goals. Then nobody else took up the starting task.

How did you go?
Started on 8, finished on 9.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
No. All I really wanted to do was play good golf, and I didn't do that.

Did you reach your goals?
no

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Slightly backward, but I have an excuse from August onward. The onset of tennis elbow (now a very mild dose, and manageable, but I've still got some disconfort) hasn't helped at all.

Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
I had my first lesson for 30 years last April, but it didn't help at all. Buying a new set of clubs didn't have the miracle effect either.

Did you play some great courses?
No. I played a few courses I've never played before, but Grafton was the only one I liked. I think Castle Hill was probably the only top 100 course I played at all, and I wasn't greatly thrilled by it.
---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?
I'm going to set one this time. I wish to avoid the dreaded rise into double figures. I've been in single figures for 12 years, and I really want to stay there.

Got any golfing holidays planned?

I might go to Adelaide in February if a few planets line up properly.

Have a particular course lined up to play?
If Adelaide happens I'll play Links Lady Bay, and I'll seek out the SA Ozgolfers to see what arrangements they can make.

How did you go?
Started the year on 5.2 and ended on 27. Actually playing off my club handicap of 4.6, waiting for our golflink affiliation to kick in again.
Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Yes, in a way. Playing very consistent. No more 9 rounds over handicap, 1 under to keep the handicap. I have broken 80 in 6 of my last 7 comp rounds at Kennedy Bay, which is a nice feat.

Did you reach your goals?

My only real goal is to enjoy golf, which I do everytime.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Definately forwards. My short game is getting really nice since I put Winn grips on the wedges and I no longer use a glove when using them. I used to do this ages ago. I now feel that I have a lot more "feel" and am confident in getting up and down from anywhere.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

I got to go back home and tear up the boys and take their cash! Being able to play 12 months a year for 4 years has put me a few steps ahead of my Canadian mates.

Did you play some great courses?

I play Kennedy Bay every week, which I love.

I finally got to play St. George's in Toronto which makes Top 100 Worldwide Course lists. What a treat, even though it was raining, windy as shit and 5 degrees. My group looked at me like I was insane when I insisted in playing from the tips.

Also played Angus Glen in T.O and Forest City National, which is one of my favorite courses ever and was sooooo happy to shoot 74, even if I finished bogey, bogey. The course used to tear me up and it was nice to see that I have improved a ton since moving to Aus.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

Get to 3 at some point in the year, even if only for a short time.

Albatross.

Defend my Club Championship title.

Keep playing consistantly, instead of the roller coaster that I have always traveled in the past.

Got any golfing holidays planned?

Hopefully make OzGolf champs by some small miracle!

Have a particular course lined up to play?

I plan to get down to the "hidden treasures" that we have down south a little more often. Binningup, Bunbury, Capel, etc...

How did you go?
Dropped from 10 to 9, and am quite confident I'd have made it to 8 if I hadn't moved OS at the start of November with great golf weather and Christmas holidays in the pipeline.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
Yes. I stopped hoing as much and hit more GIR thanks to a tip from Johnny Canuck.

Did you reach your goals?
No. I wanted to be off 8.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Forwards. I hit more greens, hit the driver better and I had more fun on the course.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
I shot 72 at Springwood. Any game with my dad or grandparents is a highlight (especially since they moved to Horizons). A few rounds with Virge and Matt at Ashlar when I was supposed to be working were particularly enjoyable. The annual hit at NSW again felt like the $165 fee was well worth it.

Did you play some great courses?
Played at NSW in Feb and enjoyed it as always. Great weather, just my dad and I, got to play the spare hole for the first time.

The Vintage was a massive highlight, even if I did have 19 points. Played it in a Black Tee Challenge and despite how bloody hard it was I had a great time.

St Mick's just slides in cos I played it on New Year's Day 08. Loved it and will probably join there when I return home.

Oatlands was a good hit too. New bunkers look great and the layout was a lot of fun to navigate.

And Wollongong was another one I really loved, despite Dicky's work on the 5th

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?
To play TOC and some other classic Scottish links courses and a few courses on the Cornish Coast. Anything beyond that is probably a bit optimistic.

Got any golfing holidays planned?
See above. Might take the clubs to Spain and Austria if there'll be time to play.

Have a particular course lined up to play?
See above again. TOC stands out. I want to spend a few days there and play it at least twice. My sister's boyfriend is from New York and says he can get me onto some good tracks there if a mooted trip in September pans out.

I've gone completely backwards in terms of my golf ... I counted playing 3 rounds since the nudgee cup. I've let my membership lapse ... It's been over 3 months since I hit a golf ball. My golf clubs are gathering dust. :(

The funny thing is ... I am not really missing it. My spare time at the moment is spent working on my home gym and spending time with the missus.

Goal for 2009? If I get time left over, then I'll join a club and play once a fortnight.

How did you go?
Dropped a shot, definitely feel not playing to my potential.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
No, wanted to play more comps and get hcp to 18

Did you reach your goals?
No, see above.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
A bit of both really, Driver going well as is chipping. Putting about the same, however making too many dumb shot choices.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Had two memorable comps (Belmont and Liverpool) with fabulous people in the group.

Did you play some great courses?
Really enjoyed rounds at Belmont and Wentworth Falls.

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?
18 handicap, so this year a bit of sensible golf and fewer hero shots.
Lose 3-5kg by improved aerobic fitness and upper body strength.

A couple of boys weekends.

Have a particular course lined up to play?

Iffy at best....didn't play enough, and when I did play I didn't play well enough. I moved house 4 times within the year so blaming the lack of settlement. Now settled in our place with a net set up out the back again!

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
No, aim was to get from 5 to 3, instead I am out to 6!

Did you reach your goals?
See above.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Backwards, but I think it is coming forwards again.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Not really...

Did you play some great courses?
No

---------------
And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?
Lose some weight and get to that 3 handicap. Not sure how realistic that is. Having the net up again will help, and I am planning on building a putting green for the shed. But, have a baby on the way start of June so that may change everything.

Also hoping to get to 1000 posts this year...has taken me long enough!

Got any golfing holidays planned?
Hoping to head to a few of the Vic district opens (Horsham, Bendigo, etc) if I am playing well enough.

Have a particular course lined up to play?
No...keep hinting about Barnbougle to the Missus but don't think that will be this year.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
Wanted to play more and didn't, so NO.

Did you reach your goals?
Didn't set any, but finishing on a lower handicap than when I started was a real surprise.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Stayed about the same.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

I hoped to play Monthly Medals at a minimum, but was unable, especially later in the year. Had a couple of spells from the game that lasted a good 8 or so weeks.

Did you reach your goals?

Set no goals, avoid disappointment.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

The same, but backwards. I am enjoying the game just as much even though the scores aren't happening.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

Did you play some great courses?

Had a crack at The Glades, squeezing it in just days before the new year.

Stay below 15, possibly stay around 12 if I can play semi-regularly.

How did you go?

I played much more golf than in previous years, but still not enough to make joining a club a worthwhile proposition. This after a horrendous round 2 years ago where I decided that I either had to play more golf or give it away entirely to preserve my sanity.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Yes, in a way. I'm almost turning into a regular golfer now and I'm enjoying it much more than I did when I played infrequently and chopped it up every time.

Did you reach your goals?

Play more golf. Tick.
Sneak new sticks past Wifey. Tick.
Play some new courses around Country Vic. Tick.
Get a handicap. Not yet.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Not quite back to where I was as a golf-crazed adolescent, but definitely forwards.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

Flying along at one over after five holes and then tonking two consecutive balls out of bounds off the sixth tee at my local.

Did you play some great courses?

Yes. Did some travelling and played Horsham, Murray Downs, Yarrawonga, Thurgoona and Eynesbury for the first time.

What are your goals for 2009?

Play more and get a handicap, although with a baby on the way in June that's going to be a challenge

Got any golfing holidays planned?

Plenty, with a bit of luck. Already booked in for a trip to Grafton in March and a round at Ocean Shores. Got my sights set on Port Fairy and hopefully a tassie trip if all goes to plan.

Started the year on 11.3 and finished on 7.4 with a low of 6.7. Had a good year of improvement and tinkered with my swing a little. Finished the year off poorly though.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Yes. Played as good as could be expected this year.

Did you reach your goals?

Yes, wanted to break into single figures and did. Then wanted to get to 7 and did.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Definitely forwards. Putting improved this year.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

Got into the final grouping of the club championships. Unfortunately didnt win it though.

Did you play some great courses?

Yes, played at Royal Sydney and Pacific Dunes. Pacific Dunes was gruesome and definitely the hardest course I have played.

What are your goals for 2009?

I definitely want to lower my handicap but do not want to put a figure on it. I want to improve my ball striking consistency.

Did you reach your goals?

Didn't set any.

Did your golf game go back wards or forwards?

Played with a little more consistency. If I could find a surgeon that will allow me to have a good left shoulder I would be a very happy golfer. Having to constantly chew anti inflammatory and pain killers isn't good for the rest of the body.

APGC in Tasmania

Have a particular course lined up to play?

Royal Hobart, Tasmania and Barnbougle Dunes.

Thought this would be fun to revisit for original posters.

Well looking at this I think I got everything bar the practice and the handicap. low teens was probably unrealistic once I had a change of positions which meant days off became more regimented rather than blocks of 3 and 4 at a time.
Had more golf holidays than I imagined...Capricorn resort and Hyatt Coolum and of course THE CHAMPS.

The year has been pretty much golfing paradise - played with some great folks from Ozgolf on some great courses and even taken money off a couple along the way

What are your goals for 2009?

Play more and get a handicap, although with a baby on the way in June that's going to be a challenge

This turned out to be an understatement. Played more early in the year, but never did get around to the handicap.

Got any golfing holidays planned?

Plenty, with a bit of luck. Already booked in for a trip to Grafton in March and a round at Ocean Shores. Got my sights set on Port Fairy and hopefully a tassie trip if all goes to plan.

Made all of them except for Tassie. There's always next year. :)

Get a handicap. Work on lowering said handicap, get active with my local club.
Got my handicap and started playing weekly comp golf. I then accepted a position in Townsville, so now I'll have to start again! :)

Willows in Townsville if I get time.

Played Willows on Saturday!

And next year:

What are your goals for 2009?

The main aim is to get some consistency and stabilise the scoring.

A big fail in this department. :(

The secondary goals are to win another A Grade Monthly Medal, and make the A Grade Club Champs Matchplay (Top 16).

No Monthly Medals, and didn't play all the Club Champs rounds. :(

Got any golfing holidays planned?

Possibly another Melbourne trip and most likely another Champs trip. 8)

Aha.. success! :)

Have a particular course lined up to play?

I'll take whatever I can get.

Scraped through with a pass.

I scored 2 out of 4, but with the first 2 items carrying more weighting, the overall grade is a D.

Nope.

AGU Handicap goal made.

Golfing holiday fail. However, the Sandgroper Champs more than made up for it. Was such a great weekend.

A few new courses for me in 2009. A few more I am aiming to play in 2010. Still working on a game at LKCC.

What are your goals for 2009?
Minimise embarrassing shots. Find a driver (or a swing) that can get over 200m. Not make bogeys, where I don't get a shot.
Talk about procratination. Just put Yoss's VS-Proto in a TMTB, feels good and getting a lesson this arvo.
Other areas are looking better than 12 months ago.

Got any golfing holidays planned?
Nah, but will keep doing the weekends away.
Even that got slacker. A few Kooindah Waters double headers, which is within an hour of home. Canberra weekends were on reciprocal courses.

Have a particular course lined up to play?
As always, Pennant Hills x100. Social club is going to the rebuilt Peat's Ridge course later in the year.
Never in doubt. Although, bypassed half of the social club games, due to club, Ozgolf or fundraising events taking priority.

Once again, just cut-and-paste is needed for next year's resolutions.

How did you go?

Not that good, but gee I played plenty and had fun doing it. I made the Final of the NSW Matchplay. Not much golf played to be honest

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Guess not keeping the handicap going forwards toward mid teens was not achieved but not that worried. Yes

Blowing out a little

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

As always Champs Same

Did you play some great courses?

Not too many new courses but the road trip up to the champs was pretty good Same this year

Have a particular course lined up to play?

None but any new course to me is a good one.

Guess I sort of achieve almost everything. Just have to blow the handicap out a little more and then it will be all good.
