View Full Version : Gailes GC, Dingo Hill Classic, Fri Dec 10, 6:24a

AndyP
1st December 2004, 09:12 PM
I'm going to play in the Dingo Hill Classic at Gailes on Friday week. This is their once a month comp, that is played from the back markers. $15 usually covers fees, and includes a steak burger.

I've been looking for an opportunity to play one of these for a couple of years, and the cricket in the arvo has given me a good excuse to take the whole day off. :D

I will book a group tomorrow morning for around 6:30am.

Participants so far are as follows:
1. AndyP
2. AndyLo

Next?

I'd normally jump at this, but I'm going to a Wiggles concert with my little girl. She is crazy about The Wiggles and this is her first concert. I wouldn't miss it for the world. :)

Should be a good day for you guys...

Anyway, I'm currently without irons, having sold my current set and awaiting the arrival of my next set...

Don't worry, Dave. You are not the first person to miss a round because of the Wiggles.

Just need the names to complete the group now. :)

We can sing some Wiggly songs as we play, if that is what tickles your fancy.

Wouldn't mind playing in this. But have to see if I can get a day off work. Got about 9 weeks annual leave built up, but have to see how far I progress with my current project.

I'll let you know, but don't reserve me if there are others available to play.

Are you betting for under or over 100?

Had a look at Jarro's golflink for the CCR of the Dingo Hill Classic previously. I saw CCRs of 74 and 75.

So A-Lo will need to shoot a couple of shots under his h/cap to do it.

Jamie, the tee time that the comp starts is 6:30a, but we were given 6:24a to ensure we weren't caught behind a slow group. So maybe they would be able to give us a 6:18a slot also. :smt102

Having the pin cut 1.5 meters from the right hand edge of the green... on the top tier... on a downhill slope ... with a deep bunker just off that edge... was rather poorly placed i would believe :(

he must be kidding, its being barely a scotch mist! despite not having seen any sun for about 5 days now(?) its been constant rather than heavy. just the lack of sun is killing everying as nothing can dry up.

I consider heavy rain to be when my gutters overflow and emerald lakes goes under - and neith has happened this week, although both happen often

You still had to putt to the hole, and if you went past the hole with any pace, it was goooooone. You could not really putt to hole it from any distance, unless you were planning on it just dropping in.

Then why didn't you do that?? Dr Bob, doesn't state that it has to hit the back of the cup. He says that you putt it so it has a chance of going in, but if it's a fast downhiller, best to only try to get it to just drop over the edge so it doesn't roll 10 feet by.... [-X [-X

Me thinks you need to reread Dr Bob..... :-k :-k

Iain

there was no way of stopping the putt from going down into that bunker.

If the putt had just enough speed to get to the hole, but missed the cup, it was gone.

For the record, I had a 12 on the first.
surprised you didn't walk off and ask for your money back...
Got my money back anyway.

Leaving would of robbed me of the pleasure of a birdie 3 holes later. :D

What Jarro said . ;)
And I was coming from the side a couple of times, so it was curling away before it got there. :smt102
I think it was a case of laying up with the 1st putt. :smt011

BTW Iain, "Golf is not a game of perfect" is ready for me to pick up from the library. 8)

Yeah, it sounds like they go a bit overboard with the pins at the Dingo Hill.....

Good stuff, it's a good read, but I think Golf is a Game of Confidence is better, whether because it's newer, I'm not really sure...... :smt102

Have you read Confidence?? Do you want to borrow it??

No, I haven't read it, and I don't think the library has it at all.
I'll grab it off you after I have read the other. Thanks. 8)

Played at Gailes again today. Pins back to normal. Yay! \:D/

The course was still pretty soggy though, and the fairway grass was getting a bit long from not being mowed.

In the Lakelands thread
yeah lets hear a wrapup :?

Jarro, we are not interested in the excuses about the the diabolical pins or the rain, we just want to see the wrap up.

Post the scores.

BTW a 9 hole event is half the money for an 18 holer see rules :)
Otherwise mate your stuck with an NCR for the round.

From memory these were the scores for the front 9 that was played (I think the rules went out the window for the last two holes though :smt102 ):

Rank - Name - Gross - Front 9 h/cap (full h/cap) - Nett

1. AndyLo 59 - 13 (27) - 46
2. Jarro 53 - 6 (12) - 47
3. AndyP 54 - 6 (13) - 48
4. Kee 65 - 12 (25) - 53

Gee that was nice of me giving them a headstart on the first hole.

I thought 10 laps were required to be completed to justify a "race".
I vote NO MONEY !

i would have thought that too, but Blakey insisted that we include it.

.. must be getting soft in his twilight years

Soft option. This has to be a null-and-void event. Gotta be docked to 1/2 prize money at best.

Very dissappointed in this 'Mateship' system of OzGolf Tour earnings.

Who is in charge of making up new rules on the fly? I certainly didn't vote for them. After all, i am the OzGolf Prez - as voted by the users by poll.

What's one more loophole? :smt102

Nevermind that we didn't even play by the rules of golf on the last two holes.
