I'm at a loose end again due to getting tossed out of work early so if anyone is looking for some cheapo golf action during this week/next week/all December let me know.

I've got a 2 for 1 Karana Downs voucher. woohoo! :D

Open days for Thursdays from my list are slim....not that many around unless someone wants ot go to Casino ;)

Wynnum is an Open day Friday, not sure of the fee G69 might fill us in.

ooh and next Thursday at Redcliffe, $8 from memory as it's the 2nd thursday.

I'm going to the Aust v NZ day-nighter next Friday, the 10th.

Which means I may or may not take the morning off work.
If I did, I would be interested in having an early morning round, but am not even sure of the logistics of how I would get there.

Anyway, just giving you a heads up, and I will let you know what I decide.

BTW does Oxley have an open comp on Fridays?

edit: Gailes also have the Dingo Hill Classic on that Friday. :-k I might need to check that they have early tee times available.

i'll just go play karana tomorrow and have a putter around, i like the drive out there anyway

even though next week is the last week of school and I should not be 'away' - i could have an audition on one of those days [Monday / Tuesday] for a feature film - if so and depending on what day it is and what time and where [????????? lots of what ifs !] could be a chance of a game - i also have a 2 for one at ashgrove - have been driving past for the last 9 weeks and it is looking good ! - appararently they have spent a bit of money and changed the layout - the old uphill 14 th [?] is now a par 5 with a different green further back - course is probably still a touch too short but I have never really minded it - still remember your 'flukey eagle'

Tee times start at 6:30am, and are still available for next week. Would there be any interest in this?

Yeah, $8.80 pretty much every Sunday.
I don't think I have taken advantage of it enough.

Next Friday is their once a month Back Marker comp though.

Do you think they would take much notice? It should be the same swipe and play as the other clubs have, and I doubt it would check membership status. :smt102

:D

the guys in the pro shop would definitely notice me! :D wearing orange after all ;)

brett, his wife and Scott all know i was leaving the club so it would be rather awkward to try it on and a bit shabby.

plus back marker comps aren't much point for me and my game currently :( I woulnd't want to bring your excellent form at the moment down.....

And a luverly day was had by moi :D

Darn it was nice and hot, not much breeze off the river either...phew!

Hiked it. Greens and fairways are in great condition. The greens are excellent and receptive, interestingly almost spongy but a nice true putting surface atm.

Nary a soul insight and $8 for 18 holes...sweeet.

And the results? a nice 77 off the stick for a nett 62, but since it's a par 66 course that's more like an 83/84 i guess...never did find out how to adjust that. anywho i neded up 11 over the card with 2 nice birds.

Needless to say whilst short in bits it has a slew of longer par 3's with small greens and as anyone who's played there knows it's a breeze to lose your ball off a lot of the greens. Tough pin spots yesterday atually, bad enough when a green is small but tucking pins...:D i had a mega conservative day though which helped.

i like the oddly desceptive distances at karana, can play hooey with your head alhtough i was back in contacts again for the first time in awhile. distances are a bit different for me in them.

Highlights of the day!:
- Driving the 17th green, 240m all carry...woohoo! and then m/pissing the 15m eagle putt over a ridge by 2 inches \:D/ who cares that i missed, smacking it on was way cool!
- tap in birdie at the par 3 14th, that odd blind green shot, 132m but the pin is just above eye height from the tee.
- sconing yet another plover in the arse...again by accident (hey i love animals, pehaps not plovers as much after an ugle incident at Vic Park pre-bus tunnel but i seem to have an affinity for mishits and ruffling up plovers lately...ask Eags)
- Finding a 70's HotDot....no shite it's like vintage with that old spalding serif writing on it and i swear its a balata! they have been diggin up some scrub near the 1st tee and in the tumble of woodstock cans and midstrength it was sitting in the undergrowth...cooooool.

So i had a nice day, hot but fun. I have more vouchers so anyone who's up for it next week (andy thrusday is good with moi!) give me a PM and the thread shall begin! 8)

well, it was an invite originally which was to be converted into an ozgolf thread, but forces converged against others joining in.

probably safer to not mention that until after he has actually signed on to the website. wouldnt want anyone to think your trying to scam the system.
