Well sort of.

My boy graduated from high school last friday week. Gaz and Briswesty and Thommo will remember him from the North Lakes day a coupla years ago.

It's been a roller coaster of emotions seeing my kid get his license, graduate from school and pick up an apprenticeship all in the space of three weeks. Seeing him at the end of year formal in a suit with a pretty girl on his arm ... well I had to fight back the tears.

Anyway, I got to thinking of the financial significance of this.

From now on I won't be paying ;
$3600 in annual school fees,
$600 for the school bus for the year,
$300 per year ( at least ) for the uniforms he keeps growing out of,
$400 for books/pens/pencils/staplers/etc etc.

On top of that he can now buy his own;
Phone credit
Guitars
Shoes
Guitars
Clothes
Guitar strings
Petrol

Having said all that, a message to all you dads out there.

Savour every minute of your kids journey towards adulthood.

It all goes too fast.

:(

Sorry its actually worse than that, Because you will end up having fewer and fewer hours in the day to earn that money.
Soon you will be taking time off for sickness, sport/ music practises, excursions etc. I spend about 9 hrs a week driving my 2 around.
Im a contractor, so its 9 hours I dont get paid. And...I wouldnt have it any other way.

Don't spend it, you don't know when you'll need a lump-sum to bail him out of trouble! ;)

Actually it is more / less than that as you have not accounted for tax.

All your expenses are actually AFTER tax.

Sorry . . .
