Spanish golf legend Seve Ballesteros, a five-times major winner, has been diagnosed with a brain tumour after undergoing tests at a Madrid hospital.

All of know at least one guy who has survived a brain tumor. Here's hoping Seve can do it too.

Jack Newtown was on 2KY saying that it explains a lot, because many of Seve's closest friends had noticed a major change in his personality during the past few years.

Sounds like the same way I was diagnosed. One fit and they found a tumour, 3 weeks later all gone.

Seve, a legend. They should name a ball washer after him as he could get up and down from one in his day.

I read that years ago. How was the luck that guy got. Like going for it over a lake not making it but bouncing off a moored boat into the clear. :)
Not to mention the Brittish opens he won from the car park.

I have a desk golfer calendar that gives me a quote a day. There was a good one from Seve recently: "I will smile, shake your hand, pat you on the back, knowing the whole time that I am going to bury you."

My only real claim to fame is that when i was a kid, Seve use to be billetted at our place for the Sydney tournaments and my uncle's in Melbourne.

He did not know much english so he use to sit rather quietly and read spanish comic books

The guy was amazing and it is proof the game has changed when there is no one else out there like him and it is poorer for it.

Also attributed to Seve:

"I'd like to see the fairways more narrow. Then everybody would have to play from the rough, not just me."

MADRID -- Seve Ballesteros (http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/players/profile?playerId=20)' second round of chemotherapy went "very well" and the golf great is due to start a third session shortly, Ballesteros said on his Web site Wednesday.
The 51-year-old Ballesteros said he was physically and mentally well after traveling to Madrid's La Paz hospital last Tuesday to allow doctors to monitor his progress after they discovered the five-time major winner had a cancerous brain tumor in October.
"The results of the checkup were really positive. Better even than the first ones," Ballesteros said. "I will start my third chemotherapy round shortly and hope it will be in the same line as the previous ones."
Ballesteros said the new chemotherapy session would mirror the two previous. He also intended to make a public appearance soon.
Ballesteros, a two-time Masters champion and three-time British Open winner, underwent three separate surgeries after being admitted to La Paz on Oct. 6, shortly after fainting at Madrid's Barajas international airport.

Agreed... I still have vivid memories of his victory at the British Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes in 1988... one of the most brilliant and competitive rounds of golf I have ever seen.

Thats no good at all. I just read it all on the PGA website.

My best memory of Seve was when he was duelling with Nick Price in the British Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes. That was great ...

Actually feeling a little bit shattered by this news, influential onme? Yes indeed.. I was lucky to see him play many times, and though only a bit more than a few years older than me, his exploits from the carpark and many other points of the compass at Lytham and St Annes' are etched in my memory. I sat glued to a TV, wrapped up in a blanket at 3 am in the morning, taking this all in..They're memories that were no small part in committing me to the game for life.

Seve was the one pro I had something in common with, a brain tumour.

Hearing the news yesterday was a reminder of how F'ing lucky I was in 2006. Tumour found Monday and operation the next. All good less than 12 months later.

RIP Seve
