View Full Version : High lofted driver for downwind carry

Just a thought that I should carry two drivers. The g10 that I am liking a lot (9 degree with pro launch red) and maybe adding a nike 13 or even the 16 for the downwind holes. The course I play most of my golf has quite a few holes that play with the prevailing wind right at your back and as the kike fairways don't give a lot of run the higher loft might maximise carry. Thoughts? On the theory and whether the new sumo 5000s are ok. Cheers

Get a SUMO.

I am impressed that the G10 has been in the bag so long though 8)

I'd suggest keeping just the one driver (G10) in your bag, and when playing a hole that's downwind .... just tee the ball a little bit higher and swing normally.

The G10 is a great driver.

hit the 3 wood downwind instead.

Let you in on a secret,but don't tell anyone.:-$

Aim higher down wind.

the amount of distance you'll gain from the wind will pretty well be offset from what you will lose with the higher lofted driver.

hit what you have and take the added distance from the wind or as jack says, hit your 3 wood.

No new drivers out since I bought it! Well, except, TM, but they don't count. Looking at the 909, the ft-9 when they come out. Hopefully the dollar has fished itself out of the toilet by then.

Get the right head/shaft combo that doesn't balloon into the wind and you should be set with or against the wind.
