well i thought i wasn't strong enough to handle stiff shafts in my irons .... besides, i like the way the regulars seem to "kick" without much effort.

then i hit Goughy's 300 forged irons with stiff dynamic gold shafts ... and they felt great :o

got me thinking about changing :-k

what can i expect from stiff shafts that regulars won't give me :?:

i'm using R300's now, thinking about S300's.

stiff.....defn!!! :)

when I had the 845s with reg shaft...my bad shots were a high hook...esp with the lower irons...I just couldn't swing as aggressive as I wanted...

went to the Revos...that help, went to the AEPs...even better...and the staff atm is stiffer...and loving the control of it...but really dissapointed in the loss of distance...

that fault lies in the 1992 year lofts... :?

so i can expect to hit straighter iron shots... but lose a bit of distance :-k

I can live with that 8)

might put an S300 in the RM as well

I've noticed no real loss of distance since changing from regular to stiff. But better hits.

sorry mate....when I mention the loss of distance...it's more to do with the fact that the lofts btw my AEPs and the Staff is like 3-4 degrees weaker...hence the loss of distance...

it SUX...and I don't have access to a loft bending machine here...and I don't even know if the set is forget or not!!! :?

You shouldn't lose any distance unless they are to stiff. Sometimes you can even pick up distance. You should get a slightly lower, more penetrating ball flight and less spin on the ball. One suggestion might be try Rifle 5.5 or Project X 5.5. These should be stiffer then what you've got but not as stiff as s300.

I went from s300 to rifle 6.0 and just much prefer the feel of the rifle. S300's just felt a bit to harsh for me.

Would love to try a set of Project X or TX tour shafts to see how they perform :D .

I'd luv to hit a set of px5.5's. But I'm not a fan of the rifles. I must be strange.

I've got sensicore s300's. It makes them a little softer and smoother. I had s200's in a set of irons and they were painful on misshits, although the heads had a sweet spot the size of a pin head.

jarro,

DEMO DEMO DEMO :smt023

take your irons down to Vic pk and compare, they have a crapload of irons down there,I think they've still got a TM fitting cart with rifles,X100's,DG s300's.
I hit a Tourstage X blade demo with s300 next to my MP-33 with r300 and was actually hitting the Tourstage a little further.
Either that or knock off the wife for the insurance money and get a back up set,I like the Cleveland TA-7 Tours.

Absolutely.....did this when buying a set of TM Forged TP Irons a while back and ended up wanting S300s but ended up with X100s. Much better ball flight and accuracy. Only found a marginal increase in length so club selection remained the same.

yep, got lots of questions and don't want to make you guys repeat yourselves so i'm searching.
so interesting to see clubs and balls come and go but shafts stay pretty much the same over the years of the forum.
i'll try not to post on any more old threads though, sorry.

except the search function doesnt go back that far (AFAIK that is a legacy of reducing the size of the forum database)
