Played @ New Brighton today with the Work social club. Got an extra 2 shots with their handicap and played one of the best rounds I have ever played!
43 points, actually shot 4 over on the back nine with a double and 2 bogies, pars every where else.
New driver was ok but not as good as the previous try, misses were not out of play and that really told as sometimes i was in positions that still had me with a shot at the green.
Played that well I booked for another hit tomorrow.

Stats
83 Gross
67 Nett (real handicap 16)
43 points (social club handicap 18 )
4/12 Fairways

30 Putts
4/9 Up & downs
1 Penalty

Next Game: Camden Valley - Tuesday

Well played grunt.... but you know it doesn't count as it was a social game ;)

Thanks Shazza, I know it was social, but even with my real handicap it was the best score I ever scored. We played off the members tees but yes it was a Social hit as such. Hopefully the curve up will continue. The 4 over on the back nine was a lowest ever too.

Thud!! that is my game coming back to earth today.

Played at Camden Valley this morning, a very up and down round. Very poor putting made it a very hard slog, greens were slow but i should have worked that out early. I kept leaving putts way short. I found myself making it harder and harder to score as I tried to climb out of the hole.

Finished with a birdie so I was happy with that

28 Points
6 Fairways
6 GIR
41 putts (1x 4 putt, 5x 3 putts)
1/9 Up & Downs
5 Wipes, 5 Pars & 1 Birdie

Hopefully it can only get better tomorrow at Cumberland. New driver still going well though. Misses are from me aiming for a slice and hitting it straight.

Played at Cumberland this morning with Andrew. Not sure where to start but my play inside 100m was shocking. More so the play inside 5m of the green and the once on the green it was worse. I have lost all confidence in my putting stroke and I mean all, 42 putts today, at least 10 lipouts. One good thing was the consistency of the new driver. Andrew noted how much better I was driving the ball. Even the couple of misses were not that big, a few feet.

Back to work tomorrow and next week is school holidays so the golf may be on the back burner for a few weeks. Might be a good thing.

played with scottt today at cumberland.

Was a good grouping.

I hit the ball well again, but just didnt have the short game or putting stroke to take advantage.

33 points - left about 6 shots out there easy

Fairways - 7/13 - hitting the new driver well

Greens - 8 - Clevelands blades felt nice and flight was good

Putts - 33 - 3 putted a few times when i was putting for eagle and birdies, should have had 5 less putts!

All up, glad to hit the ball well, especially the last 5 holes.

The member we were with said he would put the cards in... f**ker!

I had a majestic 28 points. Four points the last six holes...

3 fairways, 6 greens, 34 putts - inc. a four-putt 8) and three missed two-footers!

Drove it horrible and could not get the speed of the greens, kept leaving it 4 feet short, yet somehow I was only two down after 13...

Highlight was the first hole. I duffed a hybrid about 80m, then smashed 4 wood from 188m big high cut over the front traps to 20ft.

Good to hear someone else had dramas with the pace of the greens too. Not that they were bad just for some reason I could not get the ball to the hole all day.

New driver still going well though. Misses are from me aiming for a slice and hitting it straight.

I hear you team cobra brother ! - it's hard to not think about aiming for that slice ....and I reckon the easier I swing this thing the better the result...

Grunt

For sure Damoocow, I reckon I am hitting it just as long as the lower loft drivers and maybe even longer. Definitely straighter though and that was the reason for the purchase.

They just looked a lot faster than they were for some reason, don't you reckon?

Not that excuses me missing the two-footers. That's just rubbish golf.

Grunt
25th September 2008, 07:55 PM
Have to agree about them looking faster but we played early and the dew was still on them. In the closing holes the dew had dried out and they seemed easier to putt.

Andrew
25th September 2008, 09:11 PM
They could have been faster, but as Grant said, they were even slower in the morning.

I putted quite well when they dried out, but like Scott I also missed two 2 foot putts. They didn’t even touch the hole. Thankfully my last 2 foot miss was on our 10th (the 1st) & I got it together after that.

Ho hum, stableford yesterday made 37 points 3 3putts in that and a lot of rubbish back 9 was good with 21 points though. Went down for a practice hit today, only managed 16 holes (Had to leave the missus was calling) but had 41 points 8-) with 2 holes to go - isn't it always the way!

After a couple of months of utter shite, where after making swing changes I was constantly looking at the bigger picture (+0.6 to 0.9) I finally got some sort of result. Shot 1 under in the medal today at Yowani for a nett 70 and an A Grade win.

Club Champs are 3 weeks away so all is on target (I hope).

Back to 0.4. Thanks to Jack for the swing advice. Cheque is in the mail.

Congratulations - not only have you added "Champion" to your resume (perhaps again) but you have given your mate an experience that he will cherish the rest of his life, that otherwise he may not have ever had.

Even though golf is a singles game, there is something extra special about pairing up with someone and winning. Probably because by tomorrow he is the only person left that cares enough to still talk about it with ya :-)

34 points at Penrith today with Scottt, 3oneday and Pinglauncher. I can beat Shazza. I was one under h'cap with two to play, and finished bogey, double to drop three shots.

It was my first game for three weeks due to my sore elbow. The arm soreness wasn't too bad, and didn't really affect my play at all. I was a bit rusty around the greens, and didn't have much luck when on them. But in general my long game was quite good.

A couple more weeks of rest then I should be back to full fitness. Then I can whinge about my incompetence again.

Fairways = 9 of 14
Greens in reg = 6 of 18

Had the honour of playing with Welshy yesterday. Burglar all right.

He hit just about every fairway, and made putts every time. The second hole he made birdie for a 3/5. I hadn't made it to 5 points by the 4th hole!

Welshy - I'll definately play again, and this time we'll hope for a quicker round to allow more liquid replenishment after the game.

Played at Growling Frog in the semi finals of the Herald Sun Matchplay. Had to give my opponent 3 shots - I played pretty poor and she bombed 4 putts from over 20 feet to break my heart and win 2/1:cry: I was 3 down after the 7th so I suppose I'm happy to get that far. ( not really:smt093)

One thing that got me though was I am sure that the distances quoted from the ladies tees were wrong. The first 2 par 3's I sailed over the back with good shots - clubbed down for the next 2 and was still over and I'm not talking about the run on the greens. The last one said it was 145mtrs - it looked like 120 - I used a 7 iron which is normally 110 metres and I hit the back of the green on the full. I'm usually pretty good with knowing my distances so I don't know what the story was. I know I cannot hit a 7 iron over 140 metres.

Good course - wouldn't mind going back for another hit but the 2 hour drive is a bit much.

I had a 6 on a 204 metre par 3 which didn't help but still scraped around ok and ended up coming second the winner had 43pts at least my scores are improving a bit.

Are the greens going to be back to perfect in 2 weeks?

As you know, they generally come back fairly quickly here, and while it was a heavy coring, they are already improving quickly. Some rain later this week will help things along.
