Haven't posted reports on any of my rounds lately cos there is only one way you can say crap!!!
I've been spending a lot of time on the range and have changed my swing - a lot. And it has been a painful journey on the course. THat and the fact that we have tee up on 4 of our holes so the CCR is 68. Been a tough winter on the course for me.
But - spring is here in Melbourne and after having a few games with glimpses of promise I had a great game yesterday. The swing was steady and reliable and I spent hardly any times in the trees.
Par - +3. Only 2 wipes and they were misses by a bees dick. Two birdies - so no reward in par cos I get a shot on thoses holes.
84 off the stick - I think my best round ever - nett 67.:smt038

Had a hit at Barnwell Park today with a mate.

Shot 70 (+9) with two doubles (back to back on 14 and 15, which sucks), two birdies, seven pars and seven bogeys.

Hit nine greens and had 32 putts, allround not a bad round considering the main reason for the game was an overdue catch-up with the golf a bit of an aside, as well as the fact that I strained both my brachii radialis (the muscle that joins your bicep and forearm) the day before at the gym and couldn't straighten either arm properly!

11/09/2008, Indooroopilly GC, Corporate Ambrose.

I've been a bit over golf lately, but not enough to turn down an invitation to a freebie corporate game.

Lots of drinks today, but I'm happy with the way I was hitting it. Our group had 2 over by the end, and considering the other two couldn't play golf, I must've played pretty well. There were a couple of drunken spastic shots, but I actually hit some nice approach shots for a change. (I bet I don't do that next time I'm playing a round). Anyway, it was probably enough to encourage me to play this game again.

FG,

Great round, but I thought you were tough enough to post all rounds, good or bad, like Grunt and I do.

Why is there tee-up on four holes? Is it a drainage problem, or are the fairways being rebuilt? I've never heard of this on a course. In my experience its either every hole due to being waterlogged or none.

Take your point about not posting crap games. But I'm trying to focus on the positives. I've been in a slump for over 12 months so I didn't want to bore you all with all my tales of woe.
I did actually win the monthly medal last month and didn't report on that. And also won the district four ball matchplay - didn't report on that either. So I'm not quite as guilty as charged - but I do take your point on board.
Also the CCR has been very punishing. 36 points still gets you .1

We have the tee up because the fairways have been very soggy. We are on the side of a hill with a lot of houses above so there is a seepage problem if we have had a real lot of rain. We haven't had a problem in quite a few years - cos we've had no rain. Hopefully by next week we will be back to normal.

I hit 9/13 fairways and 9 greens.
Those sort of numbers tell me that I definitely would have played under my own handicap. The secret to good golf must be alcohol. :?

Worst feeling in golf. Especially if they came on shot holes. That's a 39 that got away.

And people ask me why I drink so much...

Very up and down game, Poor tee shot followed by some pure irons only to see them at least one club too strong.

not many fairways
don't think I did hit a GIR
Chipping & putting was good got a few good up and Downs.

Next Game Calderwood Tomorrow.

-1 in PAR today which was pretty good considering I was -5 after 10 holes, but 3 under par for my next 5 holes turned that around and if it wasn't for bogey's on the last 3 holes of the day I would've actually played to or better than handicap.

Highlight of course was the back 9 that finished 1 over par but bogeying the last 3 really hurt (especially with 2 of them being par 3's).

Stats
-1 in PAR comp
7/14 fairways
6/18 GIR (not good enough)
31 putts
3/11 U&D
1/2 sandies
31 putts (best in a while - especially no 3 putts)
3 birds
4 pars
8 bogies
3 doubles GRRR

So, 5th comp ever today - stableford - 24 points going out  then 18 coming back which included a wipe, 1 ball OOB and one in the water gods arena - so 42 points, guessing I will lose a few shots of the generous 32 I was given :smt108

Scottt

Looks like you'll lose 3 shots, depending on what the CCR was. 27+ hcpers lose .5 per shot they break by.

Play nudgee today in a single stab.

Went back to the AP2's & BC3

It was a werid round... 38pts (87/71) a even 19/19 pts.

3 washes; one of which was a 10.....hit 2 drives left on the par 5 12th.... I almost hit a guy on the bike path. I only played out because the group in front was so slow. Oh and a 4 putt 6 on 6. :(

Cann't say I'm happy but cann't say I'm unhappy with my score. Had two birds (one was a lip out eagle from the sand), had two other birdie putts hit the edge.

I was supprised to loose 0.6 ccr was 71.... I didn't think the wind was that bad. Back to 15 :)

If you picked a putter & stuck with it, you'd be fine. :?

You know those days when everything just goes your way? Well, today was definitely not one of those days. My buddy & I shot 82/ 73 in a 4BBB stroke. I think I made one good swing all day, and it was the wrong club.

Played with MTB & Brad yesterday, was a very up & down day again. Driver was not that good but Calderwood is that open it does not really matter. Putting on cored greens was ok, except for the 3 putt on the 17th that actually hit my own repaired ball mark. I could not get it back to a flat surface:-s.
Iron ballstriking was awesome and as Brad said the shot on 17 was the best he had ever seem me hit. A pure 5 iron that was as pure as I think I can hit the ball. I just need to get the confidence to use the correct club, I hit through the green regularly yesterday, all the par 3's I did.

Stats

85 Gross
69 Nett
37 points 22/15
33 Putts (1 3 putt)
3/12 Fairways
5 GIR
1/5 Up & Downs
0/1 Sand Save
2 Penalty strokes

Next Game: Monday 22nd- New Brighton GC - Qantas Engineering Social Golf Club

Mornington (http://www.morningtongolf.com.au/contents/show) - 30 to 50km/hr winds with gusts up to 60 something according to BOM (http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDV60901/IDV60901.94871.shtml) (0730 to 1330).

Started on the back 9.

97 gross / 76 nett (55 back 9, 42 front)
32 points (2 Wipe)
35 putts (3 x 3 putts [bugger], 11 x 2, 4 x 1)
7 Fairways
5 GIR
0 Birdie
4 Pars
2 Bogies
4 Doubles
2 "others"
1/2 Sand saves

Won NTP on the 7th. The hole is right on the highest most open part of the course. I think only two other people got it on the green from the tee.

Set a new record (for me) of scoring par on 4 consecutive holes - 6th through 9th.

Well done Kev,

I ventured out for a game yesterday, I canceled on the game at Sanctuary Lakes because I didn't think I'd be up to it. But I wore 2 pairs of jocks to the course Saturday morning (took 1 pair off when I got there as it was bloody uncomfortable).

As with Kev today, Saturday in Melbourne was VERY VERY windy too. I started well holing a 12 foot putt for birdie (into the wind) on my first hole. My game ebbed and flowed from there; had 2 wipes and finished on 36 points, with a CCR of 74, so I ended up losing .4, coming into 9.7.

Drove the ball a long way and hit some rather special shots, including a 3 iron from 170 mtrs straight into the teeth of the gale, to 5 foot (missed the F$%ken putt though). Hit a couple of poor chips, which probably cost me the win; as I felt I left a 40 pointer out there.

Strangely enough my score was good enough for equal 2nd in A grade.

Go figure.

10/14 Fairways
9 greens in reg

Yep, 17 is tough (maybe not the 'toughest' I've seen) but 18 is a doddle when it's your home track and you play it heaps, oh well.

As for today's round I played at Wakehurst for an 88 off the stick, nett 77, drove the ball fantastically (which is what you need around there) but putting was a let down as were some missed irons.

All in all happy with the day as the wind was very strong and the rain was on and off for a bit as a storm passed north of us.

88 gross
77 nett
13/15 fairways (a record for me I'm sure)
7/18 GIR
37 putts (4 x 3 putts)
3/7 U&D
0/4 sandies
6 pars (including a 3 putt par)
8 bogies
4 doubles

single stab off the gold tees. After flushing the ball last week, I tried to reproduce the same swing thoughts and failed miserably. Turned with 11 points. Stopped thinking about the swing at the turn and (despite a couple of missed short putts), I had 19 points with 4 birdies. Talk about a game of two halves! Two more weeks to get this sorted out before the champs.

Well done at Mornington Kev. That can be a very tough course. Your approaches have to be spot on don't they!!
The 7th - is that the downhill one hitting towards the bay???With the bunkers on the rights hand side? If it is well done. I've never got on the green there - probably even with my second shot:shock: Well done on your streak of pars.:smt038
