Question for all those that have played golf on the mid North coast of NSW

Where should I stop and play on my way up to the champs?

Have played Coffs and was thinking of another place to play in the area.

Whats Sawtell Like?

Nambucca Heads is well worth a stop for sure.
A little further south, South West Rocks is good.
Kempsey GC - 18 holes, good nic but pretty basic golf.

Tallwoods @ Hallidays Point (Taree). Nice course, although when I played there (Easter) some holes were in pretty poor shape. Apparently they've appointed a new greenkeeper since.

Grafton is ok and only just off the highway.

Far North coast courses all worth playing - from Ballina and north (Byron the lesser light) including Ocean Shores, Murwillumbah, Tweed etc.

I started a thread on this topic some time ago, and I've updated it once or twice to cover most of the North Coast.

For Grunt's question, it depends upon your definition of mid-North Coast.

For anyone who isn't an archie purist, Bonville is easily the best course on the North Coast, but it is also by far the most expensive.

Otherwise, at the southern edge, both Tallwoods and Tuncurry are well worth a stopover, but reports about their condition are a bit of a worry.

Sawtell is OK, but not a patch on Coffs Harbour. Nambucca is pleasant, but the scenery is better than the course itself.
