Sunday 28 Sept is fine by me.

Trouble is, at the moment I've got less than nuthin'.

I've got a sore left arm, where the tendons and muscles join the elbow. One day I think it is getting better, the next day its getting worse. I'll have this weekend off, and see what happens next Saturday. Who knows, I might play better.

Bugger 28th is no good for me to get to and start the mind games early.
If I have a shocker, the winner may think this will be easy. I like the underdog tag!
If I play well, he may get the thought in his head of "how many shots do I have to give him?"

Pete PM'ed me today, and I replied less than 30 min ago. The game is still taking place on Sunday 28th September.

Anyone want to suggest a location in Sydney ?

Liverpool
Camden (Studley)
Cumberland
Ashlar

I'm a member at Dunheved so I won't suggest there

Grunt
11th September 2008, 10:09 PM
Studley would be a good choice, Have not played there for a while but was in great nick last time I did.

If you guys don't play there that may be a good venue for the final.

jimandr
13th September 2008, 04:58 PM
They don't have a Sunday comp at Studley.

Cumberland, Ashlar or even Penrith or Glenmore are fine by me.

I'll ask my workmate who is a member tomorrow. But we (Camden Valley) often get Studley members playing in our Sunday comp because they can't get a home comp game.

Maybe they have started one recently. But I never see results in Monday's paper from the Sunday comp.

If there is a Sunday comp, I'm happy to play our game there.

Gee, it'd be strange wouldn't it, a Sydney club with no comp on a weekend ! Anyway, let me know when you find out, maybe it's just a small comp and hard to get a game.

Mind if I tag along fellas? It's in the comp, yeah?

$33 for Studley? Has it got a lot better in the 12 years since I played there in a junior thingy?

3oneday
16th September 2008, 07:20 PM
The guy in the ProShop said $12 initially, then I reminded him of being visitors. He also said it had just gone up for weekends.

Come along 8)

Thanks for making the booking Pete. Looking forward to it.

I have played Studley quite a few times, but not for about five years. My understanding is that holes 2,3 and 4 have been totally changed since my last visit.

ok, change of plans.

I rang Studley with the details and got someone different on the blower. The comp on Sunday is mixed, not medley, so unless 2 guys want to chuck on a dress..... so I cancelled us out ! I've heard the greens are good but the fairways are crap, so $33 could have been a stretch anyway !

I have now booked us for 12.06 at Penrith. Let me know if this is OK, the booking has been made for the 4 names so if anyone can't play at Penrith drop me a line.

Gruntus, can you change the thread title again please mate 8)

I can say, with absolute honesty, that I have never worn a dress, even on a mad Monday. Therefore, the change of location to Penrith is fine by me.

See you there.

Be wary on Sunday, I have heard talk of a possibly demented individual at Penrith...

He apparently goes around sniffing other peoples putter grips

No Jarro, Jim never goes 5 up, he just beats you by one or two holes. You could shoot 42 points & he would beat 2&1. You could shoot 24 points & he'd still beat you by 2&1.

He’s a gentleman. He beats you, but doesn’t embarrass you.

jimandr

We thought Grunt may have been tearing down the walls trying to find out the result, so we decided to wait a bit.

The result: Jimandr defeated 3oneday 5 & 3.

Once again I took advantage of my talent of somehow causing my opponent to play badly. I played reasonably well, and I hit a few good shots at the right time, but it was mainly a case of avoiding really bad holes and giving away gifts. Pete gave me quite a few gift holes.

After our first two holes it looked like being a very high quality match. Pete won the first with a birdie to my par, and I won the second with a birdie to his par. But the third told the real story. The easiest hole on the course, and I won it with bogey.

As for the game scores: Jimandr 34, 3oneday 'about 32', Scottt 23, Pinglauncher about the same.

Thanks to all for the game. We thought it was going to be slow, following some women players, but we struggled to keep up, possibly due to the amount of talking between us. The group behind didn't enjoy it so much, as they hit up on us twice.

Was on Nightshift so did not worry about it, more like I forgot about it is the truth.

Now, a course where I can knock off this run of matchplay titles ?:-k

Not very keen to go back there at all, ever!

Camden Valley would be fair. A course you both know well...

Know well? Played 10-27 about 6 times in recent years and 1-18 once.

I will have to look back at courses the 2 of us have played and see where I have put up a decent fight.

Jarro
29th September 2008, 11:24 AM
Surely a matchplay final is worthy of being played on an above-average course.

Why not try and book in a round at NSW ?

3oneday
29th September 2008, 11:27 AM
Dunheved, flat, fair, hard..... everything you need.

Plus champs in two weeks, so the course will be in great knick !

Grunt
29th September 2008, 11:49 AM
Maybe it will be the go, first things first though. We have to try and find a date so we can play it before the champs. Jim maybe free for a mid week hit too, so lots of courses are options.
