Played Camden Valley Tiger Tee event today. I went there hoping to play holes 1-18 for the 1st time in ages only to find them still out of comp play due to coring. Played 10-27 once again and the 1st 3 holes killed me yet again. Started off wipe, 1 point, 1 point. Turned with 15 points and came home with 18, wiping the last with a double (index 18). Overall I hit the ball ok, short game was poor once again. I have to work out how to play courses with hard areas around & on greens.

Stats

92 Gross
75 Nett
33 points
8 Fairways
3 GIR
34 putts
1/14 Up & Downs
0/1 Sand Saves

Next game: Next week

How'd you find the conditioning at Bardwell, Grant? It has been in pretty good nick lately.

Thought it had dropped since the last time we had played there. That was last December.

The back nine is better.

You bomb it over the dogleg on 16?

Grunt
19th August 2008, 03:47 PM
Yeah nailed it on 16 was just under 100 out, if a hole was ever built for me that has to be it.

Scottt
19th August 2008, 03:51 PM
That hole has a prick of a green. Short and it rolls back 20m, left and it runs down 10m, right and it's in the pot and the surface itself has some horrible slopes.

I've had 4 footers with three cups of break.

Grunt
19th August 2008, 03:53 PM
Yeah had a 5 footer for birdie and actually conceded that 4 would be better than having a go at 3 and walking off with 6.

37 points today at Nudgee ... a great day to play golf :)

7 fwys
7 G.I.R
35 putts

Let a few slip away over the latter part of the round ... i missed some easy short putts because i wasn't really concentrating that hard. Ballstriking was pretty good and the driver really behaved itself with my missed fairways probably 'effective' tee shots by any mans language.

We got up in the Gladstone Holden Scramble, big field too. 15, 15 and 21 caps. We bogied two of the last 4 to finish 1 under off the stick and walking in we thought if we retained the extra two birds for 3 under we would have won. We nabbed 60 1/2 net I think 10th prize was about 62 and a little bit then they named team after team in the 61's inthe run down. Two teams would qualify and they announced 2nd and 3rd had tied on 60 2/3 - Jesus Christ! We nabbed a really nice bag and qualified for the next stage, which we snuck into last year too and enoyed more than anything else the whole year. We travelled 100km to play and were just over the moon. I hit some good irons and played well around the green but our other 15 was the star lacing numerous drives and good irons for the day. The 21 and i sunk two back to back 25 footers of which both were really travelling WAY too fast to deserve to drop. I think the other team was disgusted, they were right with us till then

My performance would best be summed up like my football teams. Started well but soon went to shit. Unfamiliar driver didnt help matters as i couldnt get off the tee so was chaseing my tail all day. And being the stubborn bugger i am didnt back down and kept using it anyway :) Not sure how bad if finished but think it was 90 or 91 . Everything else struggled because of the position i was leaving myself in off the tee. Oh well such is life lol . Always next week :) Just glad i have a day job or two to fall back on .

Golfed with Courty at Cairns today. (Least we won the money eh big fella8))

82 around Gungahlin Lakes in the GL Open today, after being 2 over after 12 holes. 3 over is leading on a tricked up track.

Needless to say, I am posting blind drunk right now.

I also hit some good, and not so good shots for 33pts. Not really much else worth mentioning...

I think I need a new putter.

What was tricked up?

Did they have the stupid pin positions in where once the morning dew lifts, the ball doesn't stop on the green?

OK just a small update for me.

two weeks ago I qualified for the 4 ball matchplay with a 61 nett, my partner is of 26.

First round of matchplay yesterday. I didn't do anything right (but they did less) we were +4 after 8. We were +2 after 14, I sculled a JD between the tee and green to finish the match 3&2 with 3 pars.

In a single stab today was having a nothing day again birdie 2 of the last 5 for 38pts. not bad with 1 wipe and 3x1 pts.

Par at Mirboo Nth.

Swing changes + 40 putts = -8

Apart from the stone cold putter it wasn't too bad for a first round since seeing Willow. The good shots are very good now.

The ball & chain had a lunch with friends today so I got a leave pass for a round in the afternoon comp.

It was a shotgun start, individual stab. I striped the pill all day long for a 76 (41pts) in very windy (as usual ) conditions.

Don't know if that's enough for a win, but I'll be back on 8 (maybe even 7 ) for next weekends round.

Over two days you could count the number of pins cut more than 10 feet from the fringe on one hand.

Shot 78 today which kind of felt like shooting about 73. 6 over won the 36 hole event.

Results are in. I lost a full shot, so down to 7.7 from 8.7. Golflink has me equal 1st with someone off 31 . I have no idea who would have won the countback.

3rd in a charity 4 ball ambrose, 6 under and 56 1/2 net. Winners were 49 net but i have no idea how they sleep at night. Unfortunately this is what often happens on charity days when there is no marker and the reason many won't play them at all. I love em tho and don't worry so much about winning as having some fun golf and a beer.

I'll have to have a round with you one weekend to see what you can really do...

Do they do grudge matches here?

I'm sure we can tee something up. I'm playing Albury this weekend, and then have the next couple of weekends free.

Of course your old man body has probably fallen apart from playing footy so we might have to wait until December.

Managed to squeeze in a game over the weekend . . .
32 pts: 21 after 9, 24 after 10 and then I started to "look at the trophy".
But happy with most of my play after first 18 holes in quite a while . . .
Plus side: Driving, chipping and putting ALL GOOD!
Down side: Directional play with irons. Mostly the right length (or thereabouts) but wayward.

Only recently back from Canberra worked on a big archaeological excavation and out for a stableford comp at Allora. The frosts are knocking the greens about and their FAST, like putting on felt topped tables. I had three wipes the first nine, two many putts and ended up with 11 pts. Played better the final nine with only one wipe and ended with 22 pts so finished with 33 pts and got the runner up. The winner only had 35 pts. From memory I had two OOB's, one in the water, two many three putts, one bird with a few more missed opportunities and a few pars. Lucky everyone else had a shocker.
Cheers
