Here's a fun little thread along the lines of the Music Playlist thread.

The idea is to list the first five songs that come up on your MP3 player when it's in shuffle mode. Don't be soft and hide the more embarrassing ones from us by skipping.

My Ipod currently has a selection of albums I want on there and random stuff from the complete playlist on the Mac.

Here goes:

1. Lakini's Juice (Live) - Live - Secret Samadhi 1997 Bonus Tour CD
2. Me and My Monkey - Robbie Williams - Escapology
3. Salvation - Roxette - Have a Nice Day
4. Falling Away/Meet My Maker/Wounded - The Chronicles of Life and Death
5. From One Heart to Another - Roxette - Pearls of Passion

Some good memories for me too. Excellent "mood" music ;)

And nice one on the Billy Bragg. I still pull out Talking With the Taxman every so often.

That was what I had to listen to when I went for a run this morning. Finally hit the skip button at Rolf.

And yes - it is reflective of what else is on my Ipod. I do have Poison by Alice Cooper in there somewhere - and no Spice Girls either.

What do you think of Liam Finn's album, Adlo? I'll Be Lightening, or whatever it's called.

Solid. Not groundbreaking :D , but enjoyable. Well worth a listen. Apparently he is a good show live (not just the performance you were referring to the other day, have heard it a few times).

I actually think he's a bit of a Kiwi Ben Lee.

Pretty much agree on the album, good, some good tunes, nothing to rave about.

Better than Ben Lee....

I found the album improved with repeated listens but then plateaued. Often when albums grow on me after repeated listened they are destined for great things, but this one never got there.

What are the most played songs on people's iPods?

(Plug it into iTunes and click "play count" to list from highest to lowest)

I got my current iPod 1 year ago today. It makes me realise how much I listened to a few albums in particular.

#1 Nothing In My Way, Keane (54 hits)
#2 Jigsaw Falling Into Place, Radiohead (33 hits)
#3 Everybody Knows, Ryan Adams (31 hits)

The Keane song was a favourite for a few weeks, but also made it into a heap of playlists that get played with friends etc.

AndyP
2nd November 2009, 07:49 AM
I don't completely trust the play count for iTunes, as I don't know when it does and doesn't count it, when the count last got reset and whether it pulls the count of the iPod properly. I listen to a lot of music directly through the Macbook too, which counts, but the music through iTunes from a backup drive at work doesn't.

Here's the top 3 anyway:
#1 Spiralling - Keane (42 hits)
#2 When We Were Young - Sneaky Sound System (39)
#3 Because of You People Think I'm Crazy - Sneaky Sound System (39)

These two albums, Perfect Symmetry and 2, were playing constantly at the start of the year, as well as Muse's Black Holes and Revelations, and as a result they take up nearly all of the top 30 most played.

I expected something different to be number one, and after looking into it I can see what has happened. I've got two copies of Knights of Cydonia and the count adds up to 48. There is three songs that make the top 50 twice. Apologize - One Republic (Album and Timberland Remix) has a count of 42.

Yeah, there is something dodgy about it, like you said. Especially if songs are doubled up.The double up part isn't dodgy. I do actually have two copies of those songs. For example, Knights of Cydonia is both on the Muse album and Courty's OZgolf CD.
I'm not sure how much to trust the count, since the skip count definitely doesn't work for me and the other factors I mentioned.

I listen to everything except country and top 40 dancey crap.

My cd was just my based on my music "mood" at the time, which was heavily influenced by 90s alternative at the time.

The next cd I do should be a lot different.

Cut Copy are fantastic.

Excellent news. The second was a little more mainstream. I hope the third isn't much more mainstream than the second.

1. Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley (53)
2. Elderly Woman - Pearl Jam (52)
3. Float On - Modest Mouse (48 )
4. No Surprises - Radiohead (47)
5. This Mess We're In - PJ Harvey/Thom Yorke (47)
6. The Golden Path - Chemical Brothers/Flaming Lips (45)
7. Karma Police - Radiohead (44)
8. Waltz #2 - Elliott Smith (43)
9. I Am The Walrus - The Beatles (42)
10. To Build A Home - The Cinematic Orchestra (41)

Are Modest Mouse good? I have never investigated.....

Funny thing with Grace, I have always forgot to load it back on my iPod as we changed computers a year ago or so and a lot of my CDs are no longer in my iTunes library, so I just listen to the CD in my car.... a lot.

I would say the 2 tracks I have listened to the most in the past year of my life would be Last Goodbye and Lover, You Should...... Just no iPod statistics to back it up.

Nice list by the way.

I really like Modest Mouse. They have a new EP out called "No One's First, and You're Next" which is really good. Last two albums they have released "Good News For People Who Love Bad News" and "We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank" are really good.
