Monthly Mug at Reddy today, 95/75. Weird round with some good patches and some crap golf as well. 1 birdie, 2 pars, 2 doubles and 2 disasters. 29 Putts. 5 Fairways. 3 GIR.

I walked 9 holes with Haysey this afternoon. We both hit some great shots and some terrible shots. Funnily enough, it was not the 9 holes played, but the chipping on the putting green afterwards that has got me sorted out. Hopefully I can take some confidence into tomorrow's round (1st day of the City of Cairns 54 hole Classic).

Played Fox Hills this morning in very windy conditions. Had a average front nine (16) but came home sailing on the back (22) to end up with 38 points and a tie for the win. Golflink does not do count backs but my 22 points coming home should get me the win:lol:

2 GIR :?
4/8 Up & Downs
0/3 Sand Saves

87 (nett 75) at Nudgee today.

First game for a couple of weeks so was a bit rusty. Hit some good shots though ... enough to keep me coming back ;)

31 Points at Wynnum today. Went out in 42 for 20 points, but lost my way on the back. Lost a ball on a drive on 13 and didn't bother going back to the tee. One of these days I might get all the way through playing ok.

Round 1 of the City of Cairns 54 Hole Classic.

I shot 83/75 in trying conditions. There was a 3-club 'breeze' blowing all day, which made it hard to stay warm considering it took 5.5 hrs to complete the round . I was hitting the long clubs quite well, and flushing the irons, but couldn't buy a putt until the final hole.

2nd round tomorrow.

I played at Parkwood today using my newly acquired handicap. Played (social) stableford for the first time. Raced away from work but arrived late & didn't have a stretch or practice swing. Trainwreck to start but finished better. Drove like Greg Norman & putted like Norman Gunston. Greens were much faster than they've been in a long time. Nice walk, lots of birdlife, 29 points.

Played Nudgee today with Jarro & Shaz.

Me too..... 87/76.... but good enough for a runner up and a ball.

Played with the gents... great company, average golf at times.

Decided to play today. Poidda missed a golden opportunity to move onto the next round.

28 points on a nice sunny day at Caboolture.

Looks like I've still got some recovering to do from the palsy. Can blink, but still can't shut my left eye and keep the right one open.

Chose to wear sunnies while putting. (Normally don't.) Sometimes I was looking at 1 ball when I was putting, sometimes 1.5 balls (most of the time they were one behind the other), and sometimes the ball and putter both got blurry! It was easier to putt without them on, but was too glarey. Only 36 putts, so could have been much worse.

Had 5 three putts - Caboolture had just scarified their greens, so I'm blaming that. ;-) Unlikely to play for the next 2 weeks, so will only improve between now and then.

Yeah, thanks Eag's. It has been a while since a win but was sort of unexpected to be honest. Thought there would be better scores in the comp but it was a small field.

First round with new clubs. Shot a 75 for 38 points at Albury, good enough for T-1st. I don't like my chances in the countback, though, as I had 17 round the back, with a dopey bogey on 18.

New clubs were solid, and my short game was sharp. Weather was ordinary, with wind, a bit of rain, and a few holes of hail. :(

EDIT: Won the countback. Bonus.

Played Campbelltown this afternoon with Jim. Was a very up and down round, really out of the consistently inconsistent Grunt golf book, 6 pars, 5 Bogeys, 3 doubles, 3 triples & a quad.

Couple of the bad holes were caused by poor club selection but on the whole I was pretty happy with my game. Was a tough day with some very tough pins on relatively quick greens.

There is always next time.

3rd & final round of the City of Cairns today. I hit the ball much better (than yesterday), but still only managed 84/75. I did hit some absolute screamers and made a couple of good birdies, but a few poor swings led to a couple of doubles.

At Campbelltown with Grunt today, I played the type of round that reminds you why we play on courses and not on driving ranges. 83 for nett 74 (par 70). For the most part I hit the ball really well, but I kept leaving myself difficult putts, that I then made look impossible through poor speed. I just couldn't get the speed right, thus leaving difficult 5 footers that I kept missing.

Horrendous stats:

Fairways = 11 of 13
Greens in reg = 8 of 18
Putts = 39, six 3putts, zero birdies
Up&Down = 2 of 7 (one of them a miracle chip-in)
Sand Saves = 0 of 1
2 penalty shots

Haven't reported on results for a while - good indication that the game had been a bit off.

Last week though showed a bit of form. Won first round of 4 ball matchplay - we won 2 up. I was the low marker and had to give one of our opponents 28 shots!!! Shouldn't be allowed!!

Won monthly medal last week - nett 72 - not great - but the course is playing pretty heavy at the moment. We are playing winter rules and the CCR is 68 - pretty tough to even stay in the buffer.

District 4 ball matchplay at Mornington last week. Partner and I played really well to beat Mornington on their home course 4/3. Had 3 pars and a birdie on the front nine to play a great solid game. I just love matchplay.

Well done on your win Grant.:smt038
