Righto - so I reckon I've probably bought a fake Callaway FT-5 ... but not totally sure.

Paid $276 for it, new, on Ebay, who told me not to pay the guy three weeks after I had.

So I'm suss.

anyway - what does a real FT-5 sound like?

This from golf.com - "hollow sound -- like an aluminum bat hitting a baseball -- is not awe-inspiring."

Mine doesn't sound unlike that. It's a high "dong" sound ... rather than a thock ... it like it resonates after you've hit it.

Ball still goes a fair way. But should it be going further? Should it be thocking? Or is the donging sound what they're meant to sound like?

does a magnet stick to the face?

FT's make a definate TONK sound. Bong sounds totally wrong, more like the R7 copies called a T7, so sounds rather suspect to me.

A bong would be legal in the ACT and SA. Not sure about the other states.

Dunno. I assume one ... should?

Not if it's titanium. Magnets don't stick to titanium, apparently.

More importantly, are you donging them down the fairway? That's probably all that counts, even if it is a fake. :)

Yep there is that. Go to a demo night and hit a real one. If the sound is the same you are laffing, and if not you could have a fake.
