Who here like / love the Aldila NV at some stage or still playing it now?

If you did use to like it but have moved on, what did you change to?

I like the heavier incarnations of the NV. I have an NV-105 in my 3-wood at the moment. Excellent shaft for a fairway wood.

I've got the Aldila NV 65 fitted to both my Hybrids. Haven't hit them enough to provide any decent feedback.

I like it in fairway woods but prefer the higher launch of the VS Proto in my big dog.

I had a NV 75 stiff in a 510 TP and loved it ..... great shaft.

I'm actually thinking i wouldn't mind going back to it in a higher lofted driver

I've tried NV's in a couple of drivers in the past, haven't gotten along with them. Reg flex was like a limp noodle, stiff flex was like swinging a telephone pole. Nothing in the middle really.

I'll accept that proper fitting would probably render my position irrelevant, but I'm getting along so well with the Graphite Design YS 6 in my R5 that I think I'll stick with that for the minute..

I know the VS Proto is higher launching, but is it lower spinning than the NV?
How about the tip stiffness between the 2?

NV is stiffer, NV is lower spin as well.

Never tried an NV, but I had an NVS in my old Callaway FT-hybrid & quite liked the feel in that.

NVS is very different from NV in that it's loose tip, low flex point. (high launch, high spin shaft).

I've got NV in my driver (NV55 stiff tipped 1.5 inch) and my 3 wood (NV75 tipped standard). Love them. Whenever I try more fancier shafts, I regret it. Always end up going back to the NV. It's seriously smooth ... 8)

I found the NV a seriously decent shaft. What has harmed it is that many of it's incarnations in OEM clubs are either loose spec'd or not the same shaft. e.g. the Tour Edge NV's. The aftermarket NV is good.

Ah yes... the ben hogan NV was a bit dodgy. I think bridgestone's NV is as good as aftermarkets?

Had an NV stiff in an Adams driver the cpm was in the regular range. Had an NV in a Titty 905T and the cpm measured in the Senior flex, and had a stiff NV in a 585h hybrid which measured in the extra extra stiff range. Not enough quality control for me!

Do they CPM with or without the head?

EDIT: I have noted (and a few others on golfwrx) that the NV 65 S 0.35 played noticably stiffer than the NV 65 S 0.335.

While it is known that Aldila NV shaft specs to a big range, why not just CPM it prior to installation? If way out of spec.. request another from supplier?

Do the newer Aldila shafts have the same problem? VS Proto, DVS, SVX etc?

Have had an NV 65s in My Mizuno driver for a few years now and it's hard to fault.

Dropped an NV 75s fairway in my Sonartec, but I've only played one round with it, so a little early to tell.

I have 6 Aldila NV shafts - and you can all have them for $20 a shaft.

They are like Pubic hair and Brocolli, pull them out or push them aside and continue with your business.

I bloody hate them.
