Shaft butt size

Did shaft size use to be 0.58" say longer than 10 years ago? I noticed that they are mostly 0.6" nowadays. (majority of the true temper range. Even the aldila shafts are 0.6" or even slightly larger too.)

0.58" grips use be the standard so that's why I thought 0.58" may have been the old standard?
