Default Jason Day - Olympic gold?

With the Olympics next year and golf in for the first time in many, many years.
What do we think of Day's chances of maintaining his hot form and taking away a medal?

That is a long streak of good form. Last year I though Rory was going to win every second tournament, a few months ago many thought Speith was unstoppable. I will be cheering if he can hold onto the magic for one more week. Is the Olympics going to be four rounds of stroke play? Has the event been decided? Apparently you get 2 starters per country, I wonder who Jasons partner will be?

It's ridiculous that golf is an Olympic sport. Same with tennis. The Olympics should represent the pinnacle of a sport, like it is for athletics, swimming etc. You reckon any of these guys would prefer a gold medal to a green jacket?
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

I will never be in such a position, so it is hard to know, but I do recall Pat Rafter saying he would give up his US Open championship for Olympic gold

Also, sports like hockey/soccer should be worth 11 gold medals. I don't get why one swimmer can get 5 medals but a whole team of hockey players play about 6 hours worth of matches for a single medal.

i think they should have just had it for the Ams, it's a great stepping stone for them to play in a tournament like the Olympics I would think but no one will remember if spieth wins a gold medal if he turns out to win 4 green jackets.

    Good point....
Hockey was on the brink of being kicked out of the last Olympics, it came down to 6 to 5 vote to keep them in. Now that would have been a travesty, given tennis/golf etc. But apparently it is due to "advertising". Hockey doesnt have many breaks in the game that allows TV stations to run adds. Hence the international hockey federation have made a number of changes to the game to suit TV. 15min quarters, play stops for 30sec (same length as a TV ad) when a penalty corner is awarded or goal scored. As you can prob guess I am a bit of a hockey tragic, having played it for 30 years (now too old).

I'm too lazy to look up the qualification conditions, so I wonder what those conditions are.

Could we have an Eric The Eel style player knocking out an easy 50 over while representing Vanuatu? If so, I'm calling the embassy to take out citizenship.
