    Default 4BBB Stableford

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but 4BBB Stableford comps are now handicapped.

I lost 1.8 on the weekend in a combined score of 47,my own points roundsout at 42.

Anyone else realise this it came in April 1st.?

    I do now, lost 0.3.

Don't know how they came up with that score, I had 40 pts.

Always have been handicapped but unless you and your partner have a v good score and you are on the card over 10 times it would not be looked at.

I always thought you had to be on the card 12 times?

So if me and my partner have 48, and I am on the card once with a four pointer, how do they work out what I will lose?

Interesting. Aldo and I were partners and I do not have a score entry. Must be from not making the card 10 times.

The strategy is sound then. I can go for big scores when you are safely in the fairway and not worry about the consequences.

ZRW, Glad you lost the strokes, you are a bandit. If you ever learn to putt, you'll be very dangerous!

You won't lose anything. They give you +1 on what your partner was on the card for.Or something along those lines not exactly sure of the formula.

Agreed. Bandit. I think he needs a bigger putter.

it was 9, years and years ago. something changed with the new rules this year but it was not significant

its just that due to the obvious net bogies on the remaining holes, that one would need to be on a card a few more times for a handicap reduction to have an impact.

Nice work. I think a new putter was called for. Did the massive grip migrate to the spider?

You are still a bandit off of that. You should do fine in the match play. The impact of your blow up hole with be severely reduced. Who are you playing?

yep, the new 4bbb handicapping came in with some other stuff on April 1. I rarely play them so it doesn't worry me too much. To be honest, if I had a good round and it was a 4bbb, I'd be disappointed if my handicap wasn't cut.

So maybe they should start handicapping us on our best 12 holes in a round during a single comp, instead of the full 18. It's no different to what they are doing for 4BBB.

I don't agree with it. It's usually those few bad holes that are double bogies or more that affect my score the greatest, but these wouldn't be counted in a 4BBB.

4BBB have always been hard to handicap as a handicapper let me tell you the story previously u had to have plus 6 and be on the card 12 times to be looked at your none scoreing holes were given shots over your handicap now its 9 times still plus 6 however its 1 for no shot and .5 above the number of shots u receive per hole not on card. the ACR is used as the CCR; even with this you will be cut only slightly do the maths your self if u had a par round and only appeared on card 9 times the other 9 will allow you to escape very lightly. The only way to fix this is to require all scores to be recorded which defeats the whole idea of 4bbb; as its a quick game. if we use the usga handicap method your expected score would b posted far superior to our method where if your not on card or even if you are and the other score is posted as pairs result you receive 1, 1.5 or 2.5 over par. The system should never handicap you if you dont deserve to be handicapped.
