Not great. It's a tough little track and every bunker I went in I was on the down slope to greens that don't hold approach shots. So add 1 extra shot per hole and I played about that over my handicap.

nett 79 for an equivalent 29 points in the midweek medal today. I started by holing a 15 footer for birdie, so I thought I may have to throw out the anchor a bit later for handicap farming purposes, but I missed a 5 footer on the second, another one on the fourth and another one on the eighth.

The eighth started a string of four 3putts in a row, one of which followed two chips. My favourite way to record a triple is to be five yards off the green in two, and walk off with a seven. Apart from my woes on the greens I actually hit the ball quite well, so I'm not too down on myself for this round.

    82/72 = 36pts

Stroke today on freshly cored greens 4x3putts frustrating but overall scrambling was good.

I seem to stay more focused when playing stroke. Stableford I seem to go for low percentage shots particularly when I don't have a shot on the hole, need to rethink my Stableford game.

35 pts today at beaconhills, also on freshly cored greens , no three putts but left 3 or 4 short putts in the jaws and had another bump off line at right angles

Yep, the feeling you have to have 2pts or more on every hole no matter where your ball is
Some times making at least 1 is OK doesn't register

Stableford and Par are a sprint.
    Stroke is a marathon.

I have wasted all my recent handicap farming efforts. Today I played really well in a strong breeze for 37 points, which included two early threeputts and no birdies.

Once I worked out how much to allow for the breeze on downwind putts, everything was working well, so a good round could have been even better.

Still, golf was fun for me today.

84/75 for 3rd round of club champs.

Once again the front 9 was garbage (started off with a triple, threw in 4 doubles and 1 birdie) and I saved face on the back.

Biggest win was a sub-4 hour stroke round.

Default What Did You Shoot October?

    2nd Round of Club Champs

Had a filthy day playing wise and have put myself way behind with the remaining rounds to go.
I have no confidence in the swing and an under or near par round yet alone 2 to contend seems well beyond me atm
Double free streak ended on the first hole playing pinball in the trees and leaving the 4foot bogey save dead on the front door. It didn't get any better.
I didn't think it was possible but the Driver was worse than last week only today every recovery shot was tighter and I hit trees or leaves coming out.
Couldn't chip or pitch it closer than 8-10foot and never made a putt bigger than 3 foot for the whole day. The greens looked dryer and faster than last week but putted at the same speed and I just could not get my distance control speed dialled in at all. Was rolling the ball well enough but the line and speed weren't matching up for what was needed. Had so many burn the edge or turn off the front door being 6-12 inches short of speed and a couple of 3 jiggles resulted from some of those.

    Stats
    84/77 (42-42) = 32pts
    Effective Drives = 4/15 (1-3)
    Green in Reg = 8 (3-5)
    GIR from ED's = 3/4 (1-2)
    Putts = 36 (17-19)
    x0 Birdies, x1 double, x2 3jiggles

-4 (32 points), in a Par round at NH today. Started off well with two pluses after two 8ft+ putts got me thinking, "This is easy!" Then I wiped the next three holes.

I think it was the wind..

It was nice and calm when we started but as soon as that south easterly picked up, I lost the plot. If it wasn't for my putting I would have easily racked up double the final tally.

First qualifying round of the Grades Champs next week; I need to pull my finger out!

84/76 (33pts) in the stroke comp this morning at Cairns GC. I was travelling nicely until a triple on the par 3 5th. Got it back together again and was going well, but faded badly to drop 5 shots in the last 3 holes.

I did golf. I wasn't very good, but I wasn't atrocious either. Carrying an injury didn't help things. It was only 9 holes, for a 7 over 40 at Jindalee GC. The short game sucked, partly because of me, partly because of the greens. My 3 wood is a beast though.

    Impressive. That you played.

3w did look good. Only 15m behind your driver.

I thought I had practically retired, but independently of me in the discussions, a few friends have decided to have a regular 9 hole hit every couple of weeks. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I like the social aspect, as it is something I wasn't really getting from playing irregularly at my home club. I don't know if I can handle only dabbling in golf, and chopping it around, knowing how I can play at my best.
