    Default NSW Open

Any of the NSW Ozgolfers heading to the NSW Open today or over the weekend.

I'd love to watch Adam Coletta, the Amateur from Woodlands nudge it around. I see that the Long Driver, Jamie Sadlowski is playing.

He shot -6 today, but +3 yesterday which puts him a shot outside the cut, likely won't play over the weekend. In rd 1 on the 4th hole, he recorded a 9 on a Par 4.....nasty

I am pissed if -3 is the cut....!

I walked around yesterday with Jamie Sadlowski and Lincoln Tighe and Linc was carrying Jamie's drives by 20-30m (Lincoln hit driver - 8 iron to 10th to 1m and made eagle). Link crashed 2+ today. Jamie is surprisingly very good with his short game and putting. I would have loved to walk around with them again going head to head over the weekend.

How did Sads make a 9 on a driveable par 4?

Two local boys are travelling ok too. 1st is a mate from Penrith Josh Gadd who shot -6 today. Joshy just turned 17, is our A grade champ the last two years (his dad won the year before that), is a sensational young fella & comes from a great family. Get his autograph now because I believe it will be worth a few bob in years to come. 2nd is Troy Moses, great fella & family who hits it miles & played out of Dunheved.

Semi retired club pro Matt Millar in second.

He teaches at Gold Creek, and by all reports is a great guy to work with and has a couple of good juniors coming through.

He played in the HSBC a few weeks back, and made a cheeky 35k for the week. Nice!

Reckon the fairways would be pretty firm out there, the ball would run forever.....par 5's would be really 4's for them.

Yep, I dont get it with these long hitters, every course is a par 68 or 69 for them given they can reach all the par 5's like we have to play par 4's???

Do what they did for the recent Qld open and turn the shorter par 5's into 4's.

He won here recently, he's not overly long but is machine like. His wedge game is awesome and he's excellent around the green.

The main factor is Stonecutters is massively wide open. The only holes with any real narrowness to them are 5 and 12. Combine that with a bunch of short 4s and short 5s, along with running couch fairways, and the pros would be disappointed if they weren't shooting in the 60s I reckon. The rain may test them tomorrow...

Guess it doesn't really matter in the long run... the guy is either 8under or 12under... most punters prob like to see Eagles and how the pros can tear it up!

I was playing with the late, great Live4Golf & two other Iseekgolfers a couple of years ago & went driver, 58* wedge into the 10th off the whites. True it was blowing a fair bit up our clackers but was still one of the biggest balls I've ever hit.

Bit of wind and no rain makes Stonecutters play very short. I've hit driver, 6-iron over the green on 15 with no tailwind. And hole 18 should really be a par 4, which is what Bob Harrison wanted, but apparently Greg Norman wanted it as a par five.

The full story is that 15 and 16 were meant to be par 4's - 16 about 400 to a green short of and on the right side of the bunker short of the green. You were then to walk back about 50m to 16th tee and play a 300m is par 4 across the pond to the current 16th green (obviously a different shape). The original 18th was a par 5 about 540m from the current 16th tee. Mid way through construction, GN was advised that there was an easement housing a main gas line that could not be built over, not even a fairway so a redesign is needed to deal with this. GN asks for more money to redesign, developer says no way, BH takes on the job under threat of sack from GN and completes the redesign and hence no longer is employed by GN.

The board of the club decides that the 16 and 17 tee set up does not work and hastily builds a new 17th tee behind 16 green and totally ruins the hole. A better option would be to build new 16th tee over the back of the 15th green at about 110-120m, at least retaining the GN vision of a short shot to a challenging green for 16, leave 17 as originally designed and then play the 18th from the current 16th tee as the 540m par 5.......thoughts anyone who has played the course???

I still can't believe that they didn't have the 10th tee box where the 18th green is & work backwards to give themselves the opportunity to play off 1 & 10. Nice course but incredibly overrated & not worth the $$ they ask for comp or visiting.
