Just buy a a Honda straight shaft. They are 4 stroke and no fuss start. Shindaiwa is a great brand, tough as teak. As far as I'm aware, they aren't making shindaiwa anymore. I have used shinnys and Hondas for the past 15 years in the turf industry, all straight shafts and plenty of grunt.

Pretty much anything Japanese is good in brushcutters. Shindaiwa, Echo, Tanaka are all good. Kawasaki make good machines too if you can find them but they can be a bit more expensive than others. I bought an echo a couple years back and it has not missed a beat. I've got a mate that has a Kawasaki that he's had for 20+ years and starts first or second time every time.

So I decided to splash out and get myself a new mower and line trimmer for father's day.

I ended up getting talked into buying the 230 over the t22. The guy said it was better components as the 230 was the bottom end of the commercial series and the t22 is the best of the domestic stuff. Apart from the getting used to the straight shaft spinning the other way compared to the other line trimmers I've used, so so happy with the purchase.

The guys also talked me out of spending too much on a mower. Ended up going with a supaswift with a kholer engine. So far happy with purchases.

My budget was $1000 and I ended up spending $880 or something like that.

Fresh fuel is the key bluu as homeowner people buy commercial but tend to use stale fuel.

    Mixed 6 weeks
    Petrol 3 months
Just don't be the knob that buys the commercial unit and fills up the 5 litre of 50:1 and then takes a year to use it and wonder why it becomes unreliable. A tradie will basically have new fuel weekly and mix every second day.

Or you can be the total bell end and fill up the premade 50:1 at the local servo which has already been probably sitting for 6 months.

There's a trick to preventing fuel going stale.

You do my yard every second weekend, then Grunt's, then Virge's, then Noren's, then Golfwhang's, then ...

Would burn out the valves, the stoichiometric explosion is too high.

So glad u put me onto the shindaiwa!!

Been using my BIL's Stihl FS38 and this thing craps on it. So much more power. It just rips through all the buffalo and Kikuyu grass that we have here. There are parts of edging at my place that hasn't been seen for years.

I was advised that the bent shafts ones turn clockwise like my Ryobi and my BIL's Stihl and my straight shaft goes anticlockwise.
