Default 2014 PGA Tour season (ongoing)

Didn't want to start a new thread for every tournament so figured an ongoing thread might help?

Patrick Reed got his 2nd PGA win, went in to Sunday with I think a 7 stroke lead. Look at the final round scores of the guys who finished right behind him! Talk about putting on some pressure.

    Also good press for Callaway

Reed became the first player to win a PGA TOUR event with Callaway's Big Bertha Alpha driver and SR-3 ball
Ping, Callaway, Wilson Staff, Cleveland, Odyssey & Bridgestone - the United Nations of golf gear

How good is Zach Johnson hitting it atm??? 62 to come from 12 back on the final day is a hell of a job even though it was birdie heaven out there. Good to see some aussies up there, Applebey in the top 10.

One thing I dont get is the David Duval thing, he was seeking an exemption but was denied (shot 59 here to win a Bob Hope). The guys that got them- Chris DiMarco, Jesper Parnevik and Mark Brooks didnt even make the cut and the only one that did, Scott Mc Carron, made the cut but finished T81. Surely a former chmap who won in the circumstances he did deserves some kind of favour instead of the other guys?
I actually had a brief twitter converstion with Jason Sobel from the Gold Channel about it and I suggested there has to be more to the story if he cant get an exemption considering the rumoured good play he's been having.

Cant wait for the Farmers next week.

There is a whole thread dedicated to tour talk, so new threads aren't really a problem.

Is that a prediction or are you psychic CT?

If you know the results can you PM some to me and I can place a few guaranteed winning bets.

I think there's more to be excited about this year compared to last season.

Both are listed to play, why wouldn't they?

Tiger wouldnt miss this weekend unless he was missing a limb, has 8 wins on this track incl a US Open on one leg. AFAIK Scotty isnt playing again until the Honda Classic at the Bears Club. He was having 6 weeks off after the Hawaiian swing to make up for the offseason he missed while home. He's even going to miss the Accenture Matchplay.

I think Tiger is pretty much a lock to go back to back this week.

It seems to me like these 2 pick and choose when they're going to play the most whereas most of the other guys show up most weeks.

Tigers been doing it for nearly a decade, he always cherry picks the events he likes. Scotty on the other hand has made no secret of his decision to change to a "Tiger-esque" schedule in 2010 after the Presidents Cup. He has recently and regularly credited it for his hugely improved major record over that time.

Look at Steve Stricker, his so called 'scaled back' 2013 schedule that netted him his best year ever.

I reckon we'll see a lot more of these schedules in the future.

Tiger is listed to hit off at 10:40 with Jimmy Walker and Jordan Speith. Can't see Adam Scott on the list of tee times. Jason Day is playing with Phil Mickelson however.

Adam Scott isn't playing again until the Honda Classic, I did mention it. Here is a quote:

"This year, Scott is skipping the PGA Tour’s West Coast swing but will be working on his game in The Bahamas before heading to the Honda"

Day and Leishman within 2 shots of the lad after the opening round at Torrey Pines. Tiger's at even par. Be good to see one of the Aussies add a win early in the season.

Yeah its good. However I'll wait to see how they go on the South Course before I pass judgement. Only 3 guys in the top 45 were on the South Course and only 12 players on the South broke par, end of the second round will paint a better picture.

That is kind of a dumb way to do a tournament. If you have bad weather one day the guys on the harder course will struggle more.

They do it because they would struggle to get the full field (156) through both days this time of year (their winter). As it was they had delays in starting today because of heavy fog.
