    Default Monthly Medal prizes

My club is after suggestions for prizes for monthly medal winners. At the moment, they award little crystal key fob things and they're looking for something a bit more "special".

What does your club use? Can anyone point me in the direction of where to buy these prizes, so I can let the club know?

Someone mentioned a while back about little medals that clipped onto your bag. I think it was golfer69 and Wynnum. That sort of thing would be cool, but after a quick google, I couldn't find anything.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Anyone who produces metal bag tags could do one that is more like a medal.

$100 credits in the pro shop are pretty special too.

My club does Glass tankards, about the size of a pint glass, with the clubs emblem and monthly medal winner date and name engraved on them. As well as a small metal pin.

If you like I can get details of the company that does them and the cost etc for you. The company will probably be based in NSW though, so there is a fair chance they will drop them before they send them to you... just like their sh*thouse footy team !

yeah, they do that already. This would be in addition. Sort of a "bragging rights" medal of some description.

Out of left field - but if you do enough of them it is well worth your while. Get the medallions made up at the Mint in Canberra. I did this a few years back for the ACT Amateur winners (got ten made up) and it was much cheaper than the norm and the quality was exceptional. You would just have to source a leather strap seperately.

I got medals which were about 3 inches in diameter with the RC logo put on it (raised like the Queen's head on a coin), and engraved on the reverse side. Don't have pics unfortunatley. From memory they were less than $40 each.

We have a nice pin, about 10c size, with the club logo and monthly medal winner on it. Some guys pin them to their bags, or their putter covers. I don't know where mine are

Silver lapel button for each grade, but only every second month here.
Gold lapel button for annual winner. (EOY 18 hole stroke event for the past year's 18 silver button winners.)

Practical for tie-and-jacket occassions at the club. (Some members have made display cases for home/office.)

Current trophy donor also donates a silver plate to gold button winner, realising that jackets aren't worn as much in recent times.

I got a glass pint glass with embossed emblem back in the day - smashed it accidentally pissed as a fart only weeks after.
A decent pin of Medallion would be far better!

I like the sound of the small pin that could go on a jacket lapel or on a golf bag etc. Small, but significant. Glass tumblers and knick knacks aren't much use for anything. My wife chucks all that stuff out when i'm not looking, so I have to hide it it ManLand.

Lapel pins have the manufacturer on the reverse. Patrick (02) 9637-5700

I'd just as soon forego the little nick-nacks, but I guess something that clips onto the bag would be OK.

You could probably get some sort of metal key ring made up cheaper than a medallion, and it would basically be the same thing. Mini carabiners are really cheap too but maybe too cheap.

I know that someone at my home club had an affiliation with a BMW dealership and for quite a while there, the MM winner got a Beema for the weekend. Don't think this happens any more.

I attach the MM medal and leather key rings to the zips on my golf bag. Couldn't think of any other use for them. I have MM glasses and peuter mugs stored away - somewhere; MM shirts go to Lifeline.

MM comps are always slow and make for a long day therefore the trophy should be worthy of the effort. $100 voucher or gift card is about right IMO.

Did they manage the use them all up before the event was nuked Shaun? I don't blame the club but its a shame that the event bit the dust. At least the Cup survived for us lesser mortals to play in.

Nope. As far as I know there are 7 or so medals sitting in a cupboard.

I would have thought any trophy shop would do all types. I have a couple of those metallic ones that are just the same as the usual membership bag tags, they look pretty good.

Our Monthly Medal prizes used to be a Monthly Medal shirt and an engraved medal (some years ago). Now they are a Monthly Medal shirt and a glass mug with the club logo and "Monthly Medal Winner" etched in it. I liked the medals, and the mug has been getting plenty of use, but I really like the idea of the pins that other clubs seemingly issue.

We use the old pewter mug and the winner can ask any member to fill the mug during the month they reign as champion.
