Hate to say this.. but i sort of agree.
RM is dated and pretty easy course to play. Unless is is blowing 30 and the place is half concrete.

Cape Wick to too far away and has no clubhouse, but the course is spectacular. There just are no weak holes, plus the opening Par 4 is one hell of an intro.

Tassie just seems to have quite a few awesome courses now and Vic's ones are a bit tired at the very high end. (I would happily spend my dying days playing the sand belt though)

RM didn’t feel tired last week Virge. The conditioning was great and the design still amazing. Sadly, it is short for the bombers (all golfers under 35) but that is the Ruling bodies dropping the ball….rather than them rolling it and the driver back.

Bass strait golf and Sandbelt golf are completely different but both enjoyable. The occasional unplayability of CW in the winds there would dampen my enjoyment significantly.

Agree on all points and i ADORE the courses in that area. But if you put CW on the coast of Vic, you wouldn't be able to get a time.

RM is like New South.. so good when the ball spun more and was harder to control. But the modern ball has killed it - and the same for St Andrews beach. national and Kingston still can have teeth, but it needs weather which is such a pity.

They are my two of my favourite ever days on course - I can understand both perspectives.

I played RM 10+ years ago, and need a revisit.
My day at Wickham was 36 holes of amazing weather, little or no wind, and just magic.

Wasn't the usual apparently but as windy as they have played, they were complaining about 15, saying it was impossible to keep the ball on the fairway and 18 was a difficult carry, might suggest a sou easter or due east. Google says they mainly get the wind from the west which makes sense.

Well they're wrong and we don't need to open that wound.

Ocean Dunes couldn't hold the toilet paper for Cape Wick.

I just looked at the rankings and Royale Freo comes in ahead of Heritage St John which cannot be correct. I may be reading Golf Australia, nevertheless.

I quite liked st John, and I quite like royale. Bunbury is better than Royale thou and is unranked.

Country courses that are not Victorian country courses get screwed in ratings. If Mollymook Hilltop or Narooma were on the peninsula, they would be top 50 or better.

Are those courses that good Benno. Small chance with work I might venture to that area.

You can see the ocean from both of them, so you know they're good. You even hit across the ocean on one. Wow!

I love good country tracks, and Hilltop is a good course, but there are a lot of good courses in the top 50 (of both lists)! Haven’t played Narooma so I won’t comment on that one.

Went back and looked at the rankings. 50/60 more realistic, although I haven't played a huge number of courses in that range, but have played enough from 70+ on.God Black Bull is overrated

It asks the same question every hole.Drive between these same two bunkers. Play a high approach in to the pin.No elevation changes. Not a lot of drama or wow other than a statue. It's just ... Nice but meh
