Default What length is your driver?

Currently, I'm playing a 45.5" driver and 42.75" 3 wood. Here's the thing. I can hit the 3 wood almost as far as the driver.

I am going to cut down the driver by half an inch and see how that goes. Currently I'm working on some Stack and Tilt ideas and trying to make my swing more compact. With the longer driver length, I tend to lose it at the top and go past parallel. I'm hoping the shorter driver length will help me shorten the backswing a bit. I might even cut an inch off and make it 44.5".

What length is your current driver?

I think mine is 45 3/4, never measured it but it was the same length as the G10 I had, so I guessed

jono started it by alluding to how much better he hits his shorter 3wood.

Well said Ducky. My feeling is that the Aurora currently hits the ball too high with too much spin (hence little roll) which is costing you distance. If you could get the Aurura down a bit and keep that same magic sound and feel it would be unreal.

    Oh and 45 inches.

45" for me.... tried a shorter driver, at 44" but didn't really like the look & feel of the shorter shaft and large head.

The new D2 is 45.5" I haven't cut it down to my standard 43.5" yet as I haven't decided whether I'm keeping it.

I played my 510 at 43.5", considering giving the D2 a little shave down to 44"

44.5 for me. recently cut down to that. being 6 foot 4, i don't need the extra length as i can generate enough clubhead speed. it's all about control now.

Jono you hit your driver a mile. I have seen you hit your V Steel and it does go far but not consistently as far as your driver. The odd one will go very long when you hit a big draw but not all the time.

I have never felt comfortable with a driver over 45 and I dont think you will lose anything by going to 45. Maybe you need a heavier shaft in the V Steel?

What is it, 65 gram NV in the 3 wood, heavier head.....

55 gram NV in the driver, stuffed head

Would there really be much difference in distance anyway ?

I'm definitely cutting it down to at least 45", if not 44.5". I need to hit more fairways.

As to the Aurora going too high with too much spin, I think that's my swing. I'm hoping that by adopting few of the S&T theories, I can get the ball flight down a bit.

I'm gonna cut down the shaft i get for my other driver to 44.5" though, i like the feel of the shorter shaft in the big dog

I just picked up a Tour issue 460Tp and its 44" but at least with the MWT its easy to add enough weight to get the swingweight back up where as i have found with standard drivers its very hard.
