First Day of another where’s Hatchman playing Golf week.

    Day 1 Sunday
    Course 1
Battled the swing and the course for most of the day. Was rolling the putts well on the front 9 but that fell apart on the back 9.
    BDBBpBpDp BDpDBBBp
    5/14 effective drives
    3 GiR
    29 putts 13-19
    2x unplayable
    1x lost ball

    Course 2
Hit it much better than the first round and drove it better on the back 9 but failed to convert that into GiR and couldn’t make the up and downs. Rolled the putts well without them dropping. Burnt the edge so many times.

    32 putts 16-16

36 points on Saturday, was nice to hit the driver a bit better which helped, but there were a few silly bogeys in there which were a little annoying.

31 points yesterday, driver was a bit more erratic and my short game was off as well. Still managed a couple of birdies, one after a NTP win. Not sure if it bounced off the flag or not but it was straight at it the whole way.

    Default WDYSTM - April 2024

    Day 2 Monday
    Course 3 day 1
4 of us on a 3 day trip playing for a trophy in memory of 2 mates that were often part of my pre OzGolf golf trips away. Both have sadly passed over the last 2 years (1x the dreaded C and other brain tumour)

Played the back nine first and started slow then finished strong. Front nine was a disaster with poor shots backed up with poor recoveries.
Rolled the putts well but burnt the edge so many times.

    pBDBBppbp TTBpTDbBp
    9/14 effective drives
    5 GiR
    30 putts (15-15)

    Day 3 Tuesday
    Course 3 day 2
Started on the front 9 today and got off to a much better start with a birdie from 10 foot. Hit the ball ok but failed to convert anything when putts wouldn’t drop and never made a par for the whole nine.
Back nine didn’t strike it as well but scored better (stupid game). Hit the ball the best for the day on the last 3 holes and ruined it with 2x 3 jiggles going for gettable first putts.

    8/14 effective drives
    4 GiR
    33 putts (18-15)

    Default WDYSTM - April 2024

    Day 4 Wednesday

    Course 3 day 3
Started on the 10th. For the first time in the 3 days I put one in play. Made a soft enthusiasm sapping double after catching the second shot a touch heavy then hoseled an easy chip shot. Hit all but 1 fairway for the nine and failed to convert with a cold putter.
Back nine the driver wasn’t as good but the putter ran hot resulting in a very good nine.
I managed to take out the Memorial Trophy by a massive margin over the 3 days with scores of 32, 34 & 38pts.
The rest of the crew got worse each day.

    DBBBpBpDp ppBpBpppp
    9/14 effective drives
    6 GiR
    31 putts (17-14)
    1x hosel rocket
    1x drowned ball
    1x 3 jiggle

    Course 4
My mates all set off for home while I continued on and stopped along the way for a hit somewhere else.
Hit a cracking drive on the long par 5 down the tight left line making the second shot in much shorter. Got all of the 3 wood finishing a few meters off pin high. Had to flop the chip to the small built up green. Got it a bit thin going over. Stubbed the next and had to chip up for a third time. Soft angry double was the end result. Couldn’t let it go and some strange funky holes didn’t help. Struggled all day.

    Day 5 of trip.

    Course 5
Was reasonably solid on the front 9 with a bit of a blip. Back nine was all over the place early then stuffed the last 3 from under 100m after my best tee shots that nine.

    pBpBpBBbB DpppDpDBp
    6/13 effective drives (3-3)
    4 GiR (3-1)
    28 putts (15-13)
    1x hosel rocket
    1x OoB
    1x 3 jiggle

    Course 6
Struck it well on the front 9 and made some good saving putts when I didn’t.
Back nine wasn’t as good off the tee and didn’t putt as well with a few 3 jiggles from off the green that statistically only count as 2 putts.
Had two really getable birdie opportunities but missed both.

    ppBpppBpB BpBBBppBB
    8/10 effective drives (5-3)
    3 GiR (2-1)
    29 putts (14-15)

    0x 3 jiggles (statistically) 3x mentally

    Day 6 of trip
    Course 7

Front 9 I was striking it constantly off the tee but couldn’t finish enough of the good position I was in often enough to score better.
Back 9 I lost the timing a bit but got away with it up until the 15th. Made a very sloppy double then an angry triple on 16. Bogey on the last 2 from great drives capped off a very disappointing finish.

I love how you report shanks like they're just another stat, like GIRs.

It’s a big achievement when I don’t have to list one.
I’m having to concentrate on making sure I don’t take away outside the line as I’ve worked out that’s when they appear. Every time I lapse on that…zing one seems to come out.

After complaining in the other handicap thread, I actually put together a good round today for the first time in a while.

Cutter Classic at Oxley, stroke round of the blacks.

    PBPPPPPbB-PbPPPPBPb 71/67

Highlight was probably hitting it to 6 feet on the 212m par 3 13th, even though I missed the tricky breaking putt. Drove well (other than 16, where I was only saved from OOB by some trees), chipped well, putted well enough. A little disapointed to not birdie any of the par 3s, despite having good looks on all 4 of them (wrote my name down for NTP on two of them, don't know if they held).

Was my first time playing Oxley. I enjoyed it, fairways were good, greens were a little soft and sandy but rolled well. Maybe a few too many dog-legs, but I didn't really mind - it's not a super long course, so the dog legs help keep the approaches a bit more varied in terms of length.

Last day of trip and last round. Golfers elbow in both left and right arms has me not pushing my luck trying to squeeze one last one in before the drive home.
Medal Round at a course I’ve played many times for the 10th game and 8th different course in 7 days.
Drove it ok for most of the day but when I missed I paid for it dearly. Up and down game was mix of hit or miss. Iron play was poor missing too many greens from good position or when required for recovery.

84/72 in the medal today. As usual too many wayward drives costing shots, but at least my iron play was reasonable. Next round Monday.
