Well today wasn't any better, this time 89/81. Driving was nonsense for most of the round although I did hit better irons/wedges. About the only highlight of the whole weekend was a chip in on 17 albeit for par.

27 Points at Alice Springs GC.

    3 Pars
    8 Bogeys
    5 Doubles
    2 Wipes (Back to back!)

    Ball striking wasn't great.
Putting improved on last round, at least got the ball to the hole today.
    Chipping was hot & cold.
    Ah well. Always next week!

76 for 36 points on Sat. Chipping and putting like a demon saved my score.

    32 on Saturday.

Bombed a heap of drives out over 12 metres which was nice to see.

29 points around The Dunes on Sunday

    7/22

22 on the back 9 included a wipe, an eagle on a par 4, a lip out eagle on a par 5

    Certainly different 9s

My game has abandoned me since Vic champs. Last 4 rounds have been 29-29-31-30 (stab points)

    Maybe I need new irons...

Do you want to have a match to kick you back into form?

Won A grade in the Sunday comp with 40 points. Should have been a couple more as well, had a few long range 3 putts. But the huge thing was there were no doubles, used my brain and played the easy shot when in trouble.
Played with a guy off 14 that had 38 points and probably played better than me, he would have had an extra 4-6 points if he didn't go the hero shot of the trees multiple times, really hit home how much some strategy can affect your score.

Might be what's needed. Brookwater is talking about introducing Sunday afternoon matchplay.

Post surgery, I had 31 points with 25ish putts Saturday, swinging at around 30%
Decided to do it again Sunday, 27 points, 35ish putts, swinging a little more freely.
Today with in half an inch of water over the course, 25 points and around 600 putts.

    Its a funny game.

09/03/2024, Wolston Park GC, Blue Tees (Scr 65 Sl 117 Par 67), Stableford.

    Strokes Gained (SG) vs Scratch.

    Scoring BBPBPBBPP PBBPPPPPB; 40-35-75 (+5:+3:+8); stab 31.
    Played to 9.7. GA Handicap 5.7 (+0.3).

The post champs hangover round. I had a daily handicap of 3 for the first time, which was a bit off-putting considering the shots were gone in 4 holes. I was still fatigued, physically and mentally, and struggled in general, but did enough for it to not get too messy.

My worst score for quite a while. I don't think I was playing as bad as that score. I got away with some erratic drives, but the greens were not in great condition which nullified my good putting; five three putts is a big number for me. I reckon I got reamed a few times by the course too.

Nine shot turnaround from the day before and I didn't really change anything, except a better mental attitude to accept that putts might miss because of bad greens. It was disappointing to leak a couple late, but I got a little over confident with driving lines, and found a couple of hazards.

I'm not sure I'll go back and play that event again. I probably would have enjoyed going around my own course with mates more. The greens weren't great but some of the pin placements were shit as well.
I had a good birdie chance on 10 on the Sunday, and it rolled like one of those joke balls that's weighted unevenly. Ended up 3 putting it, not an isolated event unfortunately.

Maybe I'll change my mind when next year comes around, but I was pretty disappointed with the course this time around after enjoying it last year, and lack of water can't have been an excuse either.

Did you notice that they had a strip of rough in front of the greens blocking people from being able to run the ball up onto the green. A former staff member said something about people being able to putt onto the green from 70m away before. So what? Since when is golf a game that is meant to be played in the air only?

I didn't hit it straight often enough to notice the front of greens 🤣 but that is pretty ridiculous. But I may change my mind next year, kinda leaning towards not bothering though.

Par comp at Oxley today. I've not played one of these before but I rather enjoyed it. I went around the front 9 in 1 over to be 2 up, but got a bit scrappy on the back with four losses and two wins to finish all square. Still, after last week's rubbish it was nice to play to handicap today.

Mixed foursomes tomorrow, 36 holes. I enjoy this format as well although not played a mixed one before.

Finishing square is a big effort in a format designed to benefit low markers.

I was off 10 so not really low or high 🤣 was more annoyed at not taking advantage of the 7 holes I got shots on the back 9. Lost two of them and halved the others I didn't win on.

First round of Pennant today against Tirhatuan at Rowville. Its div 5 handicap which is painful to say. I had to give 4 shots and won 2&1.
They had me playing off 4 which I thought qas nice of them.

-4 in par today. Was good off the tee, irons were good, putter was stone cold. Couple of three putts, bunch of lip-outs and near misses.

Last round of pennant today, squared the last to win 1 up. Knocked opponents out of finals which went down like a fart in a space suit
Happiness is a long walk with a putter.

A little bit of return to form with a slow start due in part to the long, two days of wear greens, and a stumble through 11 and 12. ****, I hate 11. I left a few well hit approach shots short, which was poor club selection, but I'm back to hitting a good number of greens (or fringes), which is pleasing.

34 today, at least some highlights.

One of those highlights: we have the MiClub so the scores roll past on the TV, can't see my name so I say to my mate, how about putting the scores in, he replies he did, i go well if you did mine would be there, just then B grade starts scrolling, "there you are you fwit and you can't even win that you chop". No comeback.

Found a good feeling and tempo with the irons and gave myself a nice amount of birdie chances, which made up for the bogey train I got onto on the front nine. Unlocked something with the driver on the back nine too, so I'm hoping I can figure it out again next time that I play.
