It seems the sarcasm monitor of some readers is mulfunctioning. Perhaps you really should dive into the LIV Fans Facebook page and its total misunderstanding of what golf is, and should be, about. Most of them are PGA haters anyway, not LIV fans.

Spending time on social media just to be annoyed and feel superior.

I wouldn’t have picked you for a left wing lunatic Jim.

I’d need to have a lobotomy before going on Facebook for any reason, ever. Apologies for missing your sarcasm, Jim. It was so subtle and expertly crafted it went clear over my head.
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

Never admit to sarcasm. Defeats the purpose!

I never actually participate in Facebook discussions. Most on there have already had their lobotomy.

The LIV pages are very amusing and entertaining though. There is a guy on there who posts about how crappy the PGA Tour has become every time a no name is on top of the leaderboard. Of course the time had to come when Brendan Steele won their event.

But the original point is a valid one. If I were a 'franchise owner' I'd be demanding my players put all their efforts into winning for my team, like they sometimes do in Euro football, and its getting that way in cricket due to the IPL. The difference is that, at this stage, the franchise owner does not pay the bills, and isn't paying Tyrrell Hatton his full wages. Hatton already got his millions for just turning up, and they are purely depending upon the competitive spirit of the players to try their hardest. But it might get that way if LIV do succeed and take over golf.

Is LIV trying to take over golf, though? Isn't it a contracted league, with a set pool of players? Why isn't there room for two top level leagues?

The PGA doesn’t/didn’t want to share, they just want to dominate/control top level Golf.

The Saudis through their PIF, are trying to become a dominant tourist destination and seem to be using Sport as another way of growing ecomonic power.

Both Saudi and UAE countries have already said oil isnt going to be making them rich for ever.

The PIF already owns a famous soccer club in UK and numerous other sporting interests.

I doubt the Saudi’s are trying to be a tourist destination Blakey. Have you ever enquired about going there.
A good mate worked there training their military. I asked if we could do some Red Sea diving.
Impossible to get a visa. I suspect more that Golf in seen as a conduit to high level business throughout the world.
They don’t want dirty Bali boys going to their ‘totalitarian’…

This is what I thought too.

Horse racing, F1, golf involve a lot of people with a lot of money.

And now a half a dozen American billionaires have relationships with Saudi Arabia and the PIF too.

I havent considered that, and i think you might also be right. I am sure that i have heard the Prince or PIF bossman say that they are looking to emulate Dubai in shifting reliance away from oil. Certainly mega projects like Neom, Sindelah, Trojena, indicate that. Who would have thought Saudis could host the asian winter games. As for tourism yes, i do beleive they are chasing a demographic that is far different from the average australian.

    There really isnt.

Did you not see any of the Zurich last week. It was who knows vs who cares and a couple of "key" names that really were there for a cheque.

Golf is boring as hell to watch most of the time even when the players are high level... Scotty S. aint Tiger or Phil. The PGA tour are in proper trouble here.

LIV Mini Golf is the answer...

No, I didn't! I don't even know where to watch golf these days! I certainly haven't watched anything since it's disappeared from fta. Used to watch heaps when I was younger and had the time. Now I'm too tired to stay up.

They apparently appear to be much more open to tourists now, few articles in travel pages and a couple of multi-continent bike riders have gone through there as well. They've got random installations in the desert, like the Maraya Concert Hall.

Singapore is on now and this weekend.

Sentosa course looks awesome. Anyone played it?

Even $492AUD might be a bit too steep for me
