    Default Hi

Long time reader of the forum. Live in Northern NSW in Tamworth. Lucky to have 2 different golf courses up here to play at. With the Longyard being a Links style course and the Tamworth GC being a park garden style. Best of all, Gunnedah is only a 40min drive and the course there is also very nice to play as well.

    Hi there, welcome aboard.

How long have you been at Tamworth? The Pro's from my club are all originally from out there.

    Welcome YonexMan.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

Welcome YonexMan. I grew up in Narrabri. Haven't played in Tamworth for a very long time, but played plenty of the courses out there as a junior.

Bitter, I moved back to Tamworth with the family in 2009. Previous to that I lived here in the late 90's. My son and I play at both the Longyard and Tamworth GC. Though, I think the word "play" is not what I would call my golf..LOL on the other hand, my son "play's" the game. He hopes to be off scratch by the end of the year and then keep going.

    Hi mrbluu

yonexman comes from the fact I actually have some Yonex clubs in the bag. The Ti driver, 3wood and hybrid. Some people think I'm using the latest Taylormade woods as the Yonex stuff was I think one of the first designs to have the white stripe at the front and the carbon fibre crown - the driver was made way back in 2011/12 I think it was. I have the matching 3wood as well, but have since changed to some Bio Cell fairway woods that my son built for me.

Other than golf I play a lot of table tennis with my 2nd son.

Before that I was involved in archery and used to coach at the AIS in Canberra, before I decided to retire from coaching.

Welcome yonexman I had some yonex woods years ago still have a 5 wood with boron shaft somewhere in the shed. The grooves on the fairway woods used to chew the golf ball like a well struck wedge😀

    Hi oncewasagolfer,

Yep, I really like the Yonex TI driver. It is meant to be a 460cc head, but looks a lot smaller. The face is quite shallow compared to the much deeper face on the Taylormade M2.. But I like the fact that it looks smaller. I'm it fond of the driver heads that look really massive.

I also think the shallower face helps me out a little with swing speed. As I can only manage around 98-100mph according to my skytrak. But considering I ruptured 3 discs in my lower back a few years ago, I'm pretty happy I can manage that sort of speed anyway.
