A typical media beat up. The only surprising thing about this is that it came from the Herald, not the Telegraph. Although the story is mildly supportive, so that is typical Herald.
If you read the article carefully, you'll see that the City of Sydney doesn't control the land, but they would like to, so they probably see that view as the most popular for their voters. More open space always sounds good to people in the inner city.
Far more concerning is the view of the local member (a Green) who thinks golf courses are a waste of valuable green space. Fortunately, being a Green, he has no credibility, and he probably knows he is on borrowed time.

Stoopid cow is already destroying the CBD, she's certainly leaving a legacy.
