Blades Only Day Sun 3 July, Cabramatta

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in "Blades Only" golf day.Was thinking of organising an OzGolf day somewhere in Sydney or outskirts for all of us to have a round with that set of blades we own that we never have the guts to play comp with.

Just expresses of interest is all I'm after at this time, and apologises to anyone who feels left out because they don't own a set of blades.

Let me know what you all think and if there's enough people for at least 2 groups, I'll get the ball rolling for the day

Ok guys, so the first annual OzGolf Blades Day will be held at Royal Cabra as it seems to be the best for all round location for everyone in Sydney - sorry Hatchman. And I think mrbluu' s suggestion of mid morning Sunday July 3rd is fine.

I plan to use only 6 clubs ... 2 modern woods, 2 blades, 1 wedge and putter (either Anser or Odyssey #9).

If extra restrictions are put on, then I'm out.
(I can hire clubs at any range for that experience.)

To help clarify what's in under the ground rules for clubs. As I understand, Vader will be playing his Modern driver, 3 wood and 5 wood, 3-PW MB's, wedges and putter. He does not own any old school equipment and does not plan on buying any. Anfield is correct, it was not meant to be a nostalgia day. We could organise another day for that if there is interest.

5w are certainly allowed but nothing lower like 7w or 9w. If you have irons in your bag, it must be a blade 1i to PW

and can use just one, yes only one hybrid..... A Cleveland hybore 24* that most people laugh at when they see it.....

No 1 iron but not far away. Driver and woods sorted (3 and 4 Diawas) and SW prob the highest lofted iron. Putter is current gamer as are the irons

Guys, it seems that this fun day has gotten a little out of hand with rules and expectations. The day was meant to be nothing more than a group of guys getting together and playing a round of golf with a set of clubs we wouldn't normally use in comp. I've come to the realisation that restricting woods and driving irons etc. will limit the amount of guys who feel they can participate so the is the only rule I think we should have on the day

For all you guys out there that don't own a set of blades but want to come, by all means come and join in the day.
All you guys who want to play persimmon woods and balata balls can also come,even you guys who use driving irons and 7 woods, I'm not fussed.
Let's just organise a day to give us all the opportunity to try something different - blades.
So,in saying that, considering it's a month away from the day, can everyone who would like to join in the day reply to the message with a "I'm in - blades" or "I'm in - no blades"

Sorry for the mild rant but putting all these restrictions on equipment was starting to push guys away from joining in.

I'm leaning towards out. For me it's a bit of a hit and miss idea.

Anyone can use any set they like on any day in any comp. A blades day is good but it doesn't affect the game that much tee to green.

A point of difference would either be a year (1995) or before equipment, OR a op shop / under $50 set day where we could hunt for a set and use that from a op shop etc

But all that can be for another day, I personally just feel either have an Ozgolf day and have zero rules, or have a themed Ozgolf day and have a set criteria that makes an impact on ALL golfers tee to green
