    Default Lynwood course changes

    The Course
The course will see two changes at present being the 8th & 9th holes.

This will result in the course becoming a Par 70 during the construction period, approx 8 – 10 weeks

On completion of the works, the course will revert back to a Par 72 with all holes staying at they are as played today, until a new Golf Shop is opened.

    New Golf Shop
A new Golf Shop is being designed which will be located at the Driving Range to include new teaching facilities.

On completion and the opening of a new Golf Shop, the course will be re rated and renumbered with the 15th hole becoming the 1st.

The new course layout is available for inspection in the Club House, for the information of members.

    Driving Range
The Driving Range will still stay open for members during the construction period with parking located directly behind Lynwood House on the grassed area. This will be well indicated by signage.

Chipping Green The Chipping Green will be closed from Monday 2 February until further notice during the construction period, approx 8 – 10 weeks

This green will be used as the temporary 8th Green until completion of the course changes.

    Temporary 8th
Par 3 from the present 8th Tee to the Chipping Green.

    Blue Tees 161m
    White/Yellow tees 152m
    Red Tee 134m

    Temporary 9th
Par 3 with the Tee box to be located near Lynwood House with the use of the present 9thGreen.

    Tee Box 112m

Will this see you finish away from the current club?
Always wonder when the clubs go away from getting your players to stop at the club for a drink. If they park near the range they wont come to the club.

Actually there are 2 trees there , one at the 18th tee, and one half up the 18th fairway.

I quite like Lynwood and good to hear they have money (from Castle Hill RSL or whoever they partnered with?) to invest in the club/course. But I like the current routing - #1 at the moment is a nice gentle par 5 opener, a better opener than the current #15 (not a bad hole at all) would be. And the current #18 is a cracking finishing hole in my opinion - would that now be #4? And the current 14th (really good par 3 in my opinion) would be the new closing hole? Or is the whole layout being re-routed? I do think it makes sense though to move the Pro Shop over closer to the driving range - cracking practice facilities at Lynwood. Best of luck to the club with it - you'll have to keep us all updated Dangals.

    ****ers.

It's a conspiracy. Guess which two holes I got pluses on, in the infamous -12 round of 14 wipes, 2 halves and 2 pluses?

Here is a shot of the new layout which doesnt kick in till after the new proshop is built - however work commences this week on the new course changes and we are playing temp holes in place of 8 and 9.

It is a shame we lose the 9th as it is as I think it's one of the better holes on the course. I don't mind the new hole sequence but I will reserve judgement till I can actually play a few rounds.IMAG1549.jpg

    Hmmm...interesting.

I agree that the 9th is one of the stronger holes on the course, especially if the tees are up a little and it gives you the temptation to go for the green in 2 if you get a good drive away.

But it seems as if the current 18th will now be a par 5 and the new 18th becomes the demanding par 4...

Still don't get the logic of having golfers finish away from the clubhouse.
Wouldn't the perfect course have the player walk through the clubhouse to get to the car park? Not have you park over 100m away and have play end just as far away

The new 18th will still require you to walk past the clubhouse same as the current one does. There will just be a big walk between the carpark and the proshop

No Worries but I had heard that on the grapevine, along with the club not trading too well.

Not sure this is well thought out. Not surprising when the club is owned by the RSL Club that doesn't understand golf. I couldn't make the meeting but a few observations I have.
    1. Carpark is some distance from proshop, leaving one long walk from carpark to 1st tee.
    2. Changing the 15th and the new 10th as starting holes will make for slow starts and longer round times imho.
    3. Practice putting green now in the wrong spot.

There will be a liquor licence. Castle Hill had an extension made to the current liquor licence to allow for service of alcohol from the pro shop as well as on the course. This will allow for alcohol to be purchased from the pro-shop or whatever they end up putting up there as a temporary measure. The longer term plan is to have a new clubhouse built up the top as well but this is does not have a scheduled date.

Still wet in a lot of places but playable.
The new changes are not yet up and running but they look close.
Hitting off a driving range mat on the 9th sucks ass!
New changes were unnecessary and they have ruined the really hard 8th, the best hole on the course the 9th and the 18th which was an extremely hard finishing hole to get any points on
