    Default Camden Lakeside

Anyone played recently? Has the course layout changed since the development ?

I played there a couple of months ago and it hadn't changed to my knowledge.
They had cored and sanded the greens so it wasn't a very nice day.

I played there 2 days ago. Course was fine. They moved the 2nd green a few years ago to the left, water in front of it now. Apart from that, it's been the same layout for 20+ years

Can't wait to see what Greg Norman does in his redesign of CL. Will be interesting because he and Peter Thomson have quite different design philosophies. Still a few years off, but if it ends up being anything like Norman's other courses I may consider shifting over the CL as it's just down the way from my joint. Some good holes there now (my favourites are 2, 4, 5, 7, 17 and 1, but keen to see how Norman changes it...

Course was still really good! $100 at Twin Creeks or $36 at Camden.... Wasn't really a tough decision!

How did (or would've) you gotten onto Twin Creeks? I knew it was round a Hundy to play there, and I'd pay it, but I've called and been told you have to guested be a member, or something. Twin Creeks looks awesome...

You can get in as a social player for the 100 or if invited by a member you can play in the company which from memory is about 50-60. Always enjoy playing there.

Last Wednesday of the month is usually an open comp. Probably not in December but you should be ok thereafter.

They were advertising on radio not long ago.... You can just call and get a game pretty much anytime during the week. They have a deal for Jan and Feb, game, cart and a burger for 70. Great track but I am not paying $100 for it.

If walking, it's only $30 for visitors with an AGU handicap to play in the open comps on Tuesday and Friday.

That's not bad. But that's a massive course to walk.

I'm 47 and it's no issue at all. One of the blokes I played with is 70 and he walked it.

Think there's crossed wires here. $30 for visitors in open comps on Tue/Fri at Camden Lakeside. Just called Twin Creeks (hoping/wishing, albeit it without much hope) that you were talking about Twin Creeks, but no such luck. The dude in the TC pro shop said Twin Creeks is $80 walking, $100 with cart, or in Jan/Feb $70 with cart and burger - but all of these are for social rounds. No open comps at TC, just a members' comp on Sat…don't suppose anyone here is a member there? I may have a crack at the $70 deal early next year….

Oh, a while ago I played at Lynwood (with a Lynwood member, an old bloke) who said he was the Starter at Camden Lakeside when it first opened. He got to meet Peter Thompson at the official opening of the course too.

That's a shame if they've discontinued the open comp on the last Wednesday of each month. It was on every month up until last month. Here's proof:

That would be a shame. Well, that's what the bloke in the pro shop told me when I rang them this morning. Definitely said "No open comps".

Had a social hit today at Lakeside with my brother and a couple of mates...course is in seriously good nick! Good amount of run on the fairways and the greens have a nice speed.

Waz organised 8 of us in the Sunday comp last week no problemo, $80 with carts. Well worth it imo.

That's good to hear. Last few times out I've found the greens a little soft and fury, but I quite like the layout and it's not far from mine. Can't wait to see what Greg Norman (eventually) does to it in his redesign.

Hopefully not too much. I think it's pretty cool as is. But I guess everything needs a revamp from time to time.

The wife's been o/s for nearly two weeks... it wouldn't take much!

But really we just sent them an email two weeks prior to see if any chance of getting 2 groups off on a Sunday. We pretty much had a pick of tee times from 9am onwards. Playing the comp was $10 extra or sometimes but it was totally up to us if we wanted to play in it. Maybe we just picked a quiet week, but they seemed very accommodating?!
