How long was the putt that you hit off the green on the second flattest green on the course?

8-10 foot putt, went 20ish. Not sure what happened there, I think I hit it too hard.

Great birdie chance and I wipe...

Heaf is lucky I dumped 6 shots with sheer stupidity, otherwise my cap would have dropped even more ahead of round 1..

Par events are all about course management and matchplay against he scorecard. You know what you have to equal on the tee to get a square and what you need to win the hole.

Par is a crap format of the game and the sooner it fades into oblivion the better.
The object of the game of golf, is to shoot as low a score as possible. There is absolutely no reward for doing this in a par comp.
Much worse a format as you get towards single figures.

Match play is a game against a human opponent not a score card index.

Par is good. It doesn't prolong the inevitable for each and every hole.

Single stab at Cairns GC today.

I finished with 33pts, which is a pretty good result considering some of the crap I churned out.

It's disappointing that a mod can't start a new thread for a new week.

I am off 7. Its a hard game and I enjoy it. Perhaps as we have three grades it also helps. The object of matchplay is not to shoot as low as possible. Its to beat your opponent.

I usually love Par...and started great..Awesome full drive. Great approach from a weird up hill sloping position (normal for Albany) that went over the flag and I slid the birdie putt past for a tap in Par an opening +.

Than everything started going left. I don't hit left, I hit a fade...and I was drawing. It was a long long long day. Only spat the dummy a couple of times.

-4....Handicap is heading out, but starting to feel the work coming together.... *sigh*

The reason I hate it is because there is no value in good golf and no penalty for exceptionally shit golf. I don't like mediocrity and I especially don't like it being rewarded.
Make a birdie or better on a shot hole and it means nothing, make any worse than par on non shot holes and it means nothing. It's a useless game.

It's a game of consistency, nothing more. I dislike it because I am generally inconsistent.
