You'd have been proud. Playing 184m uphill, into breeze, smoked a 3 iron to about 15 feet. Trickled putt down, about 2 feet of break left to right. Goes 3 foot past the hole. Putt coming back breaks left to right 2 inches!

Tap in and place ball back. Re-putt goes right to left 2 inches!

How the Scotty is still in 1 piece is beyond me.

So, nobody has had a choke since 19 May. Well, I had one today. There is no polite description or a silver lining for the following.

Played alright the front, but didn't have much luck, so 16 points at the turn. Then, 6 pars in a row found me 2 up with three to play. An easy chip means a possible par on a shot hole for 3 up. Instead, I raced the chip 20ft past, and a horrible first putt and a lip out turned 3 up into 1 up. Two easy holes (but no shots) to finish.

Good drive meant 115m left in. The only bad place to hit it is in the front bunker. So I did, into a bad lie. Two bunker shots, missed putt. Spewing at 1 down. Hoping for par on the last for a still acceptable finish. A pushed tee shot meant a chance for redemption from another bunker. Bad lie again. Left it in the pot again. Left that one in as well, but I didn't care by then.

So, three doubles and one point on the last three turned a good score into 33 points.

Did it make me feel better telling this story. No. Golf isn't fair sometimes.

The only thing that needs to be said with this is that I started on 10.

P.S. The score on 4 is actually a 6, not a 5 as in the photo.

Saturday 32 points after 15 and finished 1,1,1 for 35. Minor choke in the scheme of things but I hit great approaches on 16 and 17 that both looked all over the pin and both took wicked bounces, what should have been three points on both ended up as ones.

No excuse on 18 though just chopped that up.

I had 165m (181 yards) for my 2nd on the 14th at Richmond today. Near perfect drawn 6 iron to around 15 feet, but 3 jagged for a 5/2...but still square as I went to 15.

Wipe, 1, wipe, 1 to finish.

done that myself a few times and it hurts as those last 3 holes are not overly difficult... after doing it a few too many times I went and deliberately practiced 16, 17 and 18 using different approaches and found I tended to play them better in comp after that

DP tended to think I played 17 and 18 too conservatively taking irons off the tee most of the time. But for the tale of the tape:

15: pushed tee shot into water, 3rd into water, couldn't hole 5th.
16 should've been birdie after a near perfect drive, but cold topped my 2nd, thinned my 3rd, skidded my 4th through the green and got up and down for 6.
17: hybrid into right trees but had a shot, approach went in front right bunker, took 2 to get out and couldn't sink bogey putt
18: 5 iron off tee, 70m approach landed about 20ft past pin, 3 putt.

My putting stats were looking awesome after 14 holes...

Me today. I added up my score after the 14th hole - 36 points. Immediately then hooked one into the shit for a wipe, and then got stuck in a bunker for another one. On the 17th hole I got a case of the Kevin Na's - walking away from the ball when set up because my head was full of all sorts of bad swing thoughts. Pulled myself together to get 2 points on each of the last 2 holes tho.

The moral of the story is I shouldn't add up my score until after the round is finished. Mind you, I'd guess I'd be happy to choke every round for 40 points

Checking in for today's round. It was a single stableford round, I was 1 up with 4 holes to play then developed the hooks and had 3 points total for the last 4 holes to come in with 32.

This is funny because as your marker I added up your score at the same time then watched you blow up. You did well to get it back for the last hole and a half.

Whereas I hadn't added up your score to have any idea what you were on, other than that you were playing well. If I had, I might have mentioned it and dragged us both down

Yeah I wasn't meaning I choked for the win, just I choked knowing I was in the middle of a really good score. Anyone can pinpoint places in a round where they could easily have gained a shot or so
