2014: What are your golf related goals?

I'd love to consolidate my handicap at 5 or less and keep it there for good. Earlier this year I got down to a PB of 6.9, my current anchor, but I've been floating around the 8s for a few months now. Think I started the year on 9 or so. Don't know about you blokes, but I think there's a massive difference (mostly in terms of consistency) between a high single figure golfer, like myself, and someone who's solidly playing off, say, 4hc. Always a work in progress...

Clearly not a year long goal but after the gridiron season has concluded at the end of August is when I'll be looking to get out on the course on a regular basis and join the local club before the year is through.

first goal was to get a hcp, tick 27.3 so not happy with that. I need to eliminate those half a dozen dumb shots that lead to 10-15 lost shots. more fairways, more greens, get out of bunkers first go and not 4th try, get under 20 by christmas

Well, only played 3 comp rounds since this post and have dropped to 21...so one goal nearly achieved and by definition I guess I have hit more fairways and greens although it doesn't seem like it, it feels like my short irons are holding it together, just. I have spent more time in the sand than Pamela Anderson trying to figure out bunker play and am happy with the progress so far, thanks to a lot of advice from fellow Ozgolfers. New short term is bogey golf by Christmas, put time into the flat stick and again keep working on driver to get ready for Vic Champs, yeah baby!!!

9.4 or lower.. after stumbling down to 13 last year im creeping back up and could go back to 14 very shortly the way im playing..
More range time ( 3 times a fortnight minimum ) and play every saturday.

Oh yeah and break that damn 30 point barrier down at Vic champs

Sitting right at the moment at 8.1 but plenty of flags coming up to go either way.. the practice didn't happen but I played alot more 9 holes after work instead. 30 pts Sat at Vic champs and 32 on Sunday so that hoodoo was broken too.

New goal is to play more courses in comp and find out what my real handicap is.. not this home course hero crap.

I'm a bit late to this but my goals for 2014 are:

Join a course
Get a handicap
Get it down to the same as my UK handicap was when I left (18.6)

Nearly there.

After this weekend, my handicap dropped to 20.8, which is actually lower than when I left the UK (20.9). 18.6 was my lowest ever in the UK, so that's the target for the rest of the year. Not sure whether I'll get there tho, as through playing more rounds in golflink, more get flagged, so I'll need a lot of low rounds to drop it much more....

My weight was gradually declining until I went to Italy and lived on pizza & gelato for 6 weeks. I started to get serious about it again just yesterday.

Didn't list my only goal of doubling up on Club Champs.
2 rounds to go and it's looking very sad. Leader is 1 over for 2 rounds and I'm 13 over. There's also 5 others in between that.
I need to shot 2 rounds better than I've played all year. Confidence is low

I just checked my goals as stated earlier - aim to get to 13. Played off 13 in my last comp game so goal achieved. Now I just have to stay there.

Didn't stay there, went straight back to 14 after that game. Have since managed to get back down to 13 for several games recently. Need a few good rounds to cement that cap (or hopefully a little lower). With some nice Spring weather that might just be possible.

2. Close. Shot a 1 over 73 is the closest I've got so far. However I have played my most complete rounds ever this year.

3. Closer than I thought. I've had 10 or more sessions with a coach this year and I've bought bugger all so far this year.


In retrospect I'm not overly pleased. I'm anchored on 10 which wasn't in the plan. 2 months to pull a rabbit out of the hat.
