I don't understand why you care so much.

Who are these great sporting icons that are angels? There probably isn't too many of them.

I'm not making excuses for him or defending his woeful antics. He's often a disgrace. I just think he will mature with time, like Hewitt. He was incredibly hard to like for the longest time.

Since Stosur's dismal performance in the Fed Cup, she has won 7 of her 8 matches since then, making the final of the Prague Open last week, and now she is still alive in the semis at Madrid; both are clay court tournaments. There's nothing wrong with her form, just her custard head.

Stosur's form outside Oz continues, into the final 16. Whilst she was the under dog, I was so confident, I even back her at nice odds. Wouldn't even think about doing so if she was playing here.

I thought about having a bet on her too; she is certainly playing well at the moment in other countries. Unfortunately, she will now be the favourite in her next match, because the number 2 seed, Radwanska got knocked off.

I watched highlights of her Qtr Final and she showed some real ticker coming back from 2-4 in the first set, 1-3 in the second set and 1-5 in the tiebreak.

pt, that is her "bread and butter". Once she falls behind in a match, the pressure is released and she starts playing better. Closing out a match can be a problem though.

Will anyone worry Novak at Wimbledon? Hopefully we get a few Aussies through the first round but there are some tough match ups.

Don't they usually have at least one match that pushes them to the limit, no matter how easy every other match is for them? (by them, I mean the top ranked players)

Most of the time. The Joker sometimes switches off for a while too in the middle of a match before coming back to dominate. He's so good he still wins most every time anyway. The next 3 years will be fascinating as he chases Federer's Grand slam record. So far it doesn't look like injuries will hamper his chase as much as they did Nadal and he shows no sign at all of slowing down.

So who is going to challenge him in the future?

Is Murray destined to be a constant runner-up?
Raonic is up there and is still improving. Thiem is doing everything right at the moment. Krygios has claimed plenty of scalps, but lacks the consistency. Zverev is another youngster coming through doing well.

On another note, the whereabouts of Kokkinakis just crossed my mind. He has had three shoulder operations since December, and is due to comeback soon.

Good question. Murray just went back to Lendl i believe but The Joker is a better player as he was during Murray's partnership with Ivan. Raonic certainly has the weapons and both he and Kyrgios could potentially emerge as a bigger challenge. The bigger battle may just lay with Novak himself, injuries, mental longevity and drive etc. Surely after a couple more Slams it can only get harder? If he maintains the rage for 2-3 years more he will be anything. I think it's fair to say he is playing the greatest tennis ever.

I've just got that feeling that someone or something will emerge before he surpasses Federer's Slams.

Haven't really watched tennis for a long time but boy the game has changed. Not as much serve volley at Wimbeldon as in the past. Mostly bash fests from the base line and geez can some of girls give it a belt. I was watching Camila Giorgi play a match the other day and she likes to give it a bash. Then I saw Kvitova play and wow, she can smash it too! I'm used to seeing much more top spin used but they seem to hit it quite flat these days. It's been fun to watch (especially Camila Giorgi!)

    I wouldn't think so - she's in her 80's now.
Do people really watch tennis? - isn't it sort of retarded like Olympic swimming?

2 sets to love down is probably worrying him.

That could potentially be a grandstand finish i reckon, one to watch. The delay did not do him no harm, that's for sure.

At the same stage last year he was down 2 sets, came back to level and ironically had to finish the match the next day after rain. He then won the tourney.

Querry now has to sleep on a 2 set lead, can he handle it? If he serves like he did last night he would be almost impossible to beat but it's a huge if.

If Novak gets an early break he'll fire up and be mentally too strong and will see it out, but I'm hoping he gets knocked out and the Fedexpress comes through again for a final hurrah. Or Kyrgios for that matter.

Novak is still favourite in the betting even down 2 sets. Will be a good conclusion to watch. Kyrgios looks pretty solid early. The Joker getting outed would open it right up.

Let's keep the Kyrgios talk to the dedicated Kyrgios thread.

It is a shame that the weather has been so crap in England, as it makes it hard to watch the tennis late at night with all of the delays. I didn't see any tennis last night.

Wouldn't it suck to be 2 up against Novak and having to come back tomorrow. Just what he needs to find his stuff again.
