My Golfing Passion...

In 2009 I returned to playing golf. After a 20 year lapse it was a delight to get back into the game as a player. Whilst being a great player will never be in my grasp. Improving and enjoying the rounds and experiences, the good and bad ones is part and parcel of my documenting it online.

  1. Ball goes forward most of the time...

26/3/12 Monday. Two days of competition golf this weekend again and the result is more improvement. Whilst the coaching and range practise has been very beneficial since Januarythe game time has been the clincher in getting better at the game. Have been getting very close, playing to handicap and in to the zone of breaking it. What is stopping this is poor putting and chipping.

The Kingston round on Saturday returned 35 points. With two holes, that following good drives fell apart ...

  2. Beachport Rd 2 Southern Ports

1/3/12 Thursday. After the second round at Beachport my score had improved but once again poor putting combined with poor tee shots cut my round out of contention. 15/2/12 Wednesday. Travelled to Kingston SE for an 18 hole stableford round on Saturday, still recovering from last weeks injury flare up and not 100% in much better condition after the game .That said the score was woeful 24 points. Missing putts was the biggest fault on the day with 36 total and no GIR, off the tee was good hitting most fairways and that is a crucial require for the coming tournament. Approach shots were erratic still, a little bit of a quandary mostly caused by the injury problem ...

Saturday 5/2/11 The third and final round of the Southern Ports Tournament has been played and I managed to play a credible round finishing with a gross 84, nett 69 and 31 putts at Beachport. The weather was a little better than I expected and again the trip up to play the course the day before paid off. As ordinary club golfers the fact is checking out a course beside the home track prior to a round is not an option in most cases. The whole preparation I put ...
